What makes a great DJ. While some argue only real DJ’s are the ones that stand behind vinyl turntables, others ignite rooms with digital media players. Putting aside the format debates, it’s what comes out the speakers that truly counts and how it’s presented. A good DJ can for that moment in time can unite the whole room with the feeling of love and unity. It’s about reading the room, feeling the mood, watching and connecting with peoples emotions and expressions using your musical knowledge placing the right musical tool at the right time in order to direct everyone to a central peaceful spiritual place. Its that rush of adrenalin when you eventually feel you’ve made that central connection and then the journey begins focusing on observing those expressions, feelings and emotions along with the energy in the room that tells you when to take the musical journey in another direction to create an adventure/journey on the floor as they head into the unknown. It’s the reason many of us go out to listen to djs, a joint therapy session, a release from the hectic noisy world outside and for that short period of time to feel at peace and unity. The format becomes irrelevant, most people have no clue what or how the DJ is playing, but feel the powerful connection once the DJ resonates with the dance floor via music as they get to work and this applies to all even rave DJ’s. As many find out, it’s a lot harder than it seems, a skill that takes years to learn.

It's not easy to create satisfying music on a limited budget. I'm a minimalist, and I make music with the bare minimum of equipment. Recorded in a music room, a studio converted from an old folk house. And I use a PC to create the sounds. Of course, it's not at all like a full-fledged studio, but I'm proud that I can create fairly high-quality sounds. Of course, the more capital, the better. However, for example, isn't a cake maker truly professional only if he can make the best cakes on a limited budget? As for musical instruments, do musicians in the third world really have high-end equipment and instruments? And is there really a need for them in the first place? What is music that touches the heart? I don't think it's about material things.

#TIMDUpskill What’s special in the art of musical improvisation is the spontaneity of the musical ideas created and put together in the moment, never to be recreated in exactly the same way. While many instrumentalists do make a point of practicing their improv skills to songs or backing tracks, I’d like to make a case for musical improv events; in which musicians jam together while playing different instruments with nothing pre-decided. This is live music in a very literal sense where never before heard arrangements can come alive. Participating in such jams has multiple benefits for musicians which are distinct from what one would get out of soloing to a backing track when practicing at home. Here are five benefits to playing at musical improv events! Read the full article at https://lnkd.in/gKT2AGsw By Jashwin Ramchand
