We (I and Minus) are invited on the stage at New York Design Week / ICFF to talk about New economic models for sustainable design. For my own case this theme is an acknowledgement that for most commodities we’ll not reach a net zero society without new business models. The core is that all forms of carbon footprint are related to the use of natural resources, which increasingly faces global scarcity. The simple medicine is letting the material stay alive, through several product cycles, several decades, maybe centuries. And also: To limit the use of energy -> reuse before recycle. So, how do you know your material will be reused after a product life? Is it solved through the product design process? Or the design of business model? Or the design of value chains? Or everything?
