We need to create a ten km zone of fire exclusion zone , ie a moat or somthing with the same effect. All key plants need these zones
My heart goes out to the residents of Fort McMurray! I lived there for a brief, but most positively impactful stage of my career (2009 to 2013). Reminiscent of the 2016 evacuation, also coinciding with a major El Nino in the Pacific tropics. When will Alberta Environment order wide scale forest thinning around our northern communities? It was the beginning of April 1974. Billy, Don’t be a Hero by Paper Lace 🎵 was number one in the charts, we were watching The Godfather Part II 🍿 at the cinema, and for the kids, Bagpuss was on TV. At the same time, the Severn Trent Water Authority was opening its doors - taking over from dozens of local water authorities and corporations, each with their own history; inheriting and becoming custodians of some of the most vital bits of infrastructure in the country; and looking ahead to serving millions over the years to come. To mark this milestone, we’re taking a look in the archives spanning the last 50 years, and throughout the next few weeks we’ll profile the people, the partners and the places where we’ve worked and invested in. Looking at the positive impact on the region we serve – whether that’s better water quality, greater resilience, and stronger communities. It’s easy to think of Severn Trent as the name on your bill, but we’re pretty handy with a spade and digger, too. So we’ll start first by looking at some of our greatest engineering feats, the huge investments and innovations that have been delivered through the decades – including this one above at Little Eaton back in 1977 – laying new water mains to enable the construction of the A38. And while we can look back on projects with pride, we’re just about to hit our busiest ever period for investment – putting more into our infrastructure than ever before. 🌟 Reflecting on the incredible camaraderie within the electrical industry 🌟 This Memorial Day weekend, I had the privilege of witnessing the true brotherhood that exists within the electrical industry. Multiple crews from various companies, including the one I am proud to be a part of, were called out to aid in storm restoration efforts across Texas. What struck me the most was the seamless unity that prevailed among us. Amidst the chaos and urgency of the situation, we didn't see distinctions of companies or titles. Instead, we saw towns in dire need and tasks that demanded our attention. Shoulder to shoulder, we worked tirelessly towards a common goal - restoring power and hope to those affected by the storm. In a heartwarming display of compassion, some of our team members went above and beyond their duties by distributing water to the communities in need, even outside of their work hours. It was a powerful reminder that our impact goes beyond just fixing power lines; it extends to the lives and well-being of the people we serve. I am humbled to be a part of such a selfless and dedicated community. The spirit of collaboration and mutual support that I witnessed this weekend reaffirms my belief in the power of unity. Together, we can overcome any challenge and make a meaningful difference in the world around us. Below is a picture I took on Memorial Day during storm restoration. The flag is a true testimony of the affected community. It may have been through a tough time but it still stands proud. #ElectricalIndustry #Teamwork #CommunitySupport #Unity #MemorialDay #PowerStandard #kVPower
