Trudy Knockless reports: Fresh off a yearlong sabbatical, tech-industry veteran Gloria Lee is joining the e-discovery provider Everlaw as chief legal officer. Lee is jumping aboard Oakland, California-based Everlaw at a critical juncture, as the company and its competitors race to capitalize on the burgeoning intersection of artificial intelligence and legal technology. The venture capital-backed company, founded in 2010, reached a valuation of more than $2 billion in 2021 and has raised a total of $298 million in funding across seven rounds. Plaintiffs and defendants have have relied on Everlaw e-discovery software in a range of high-profile cases, from civil litigation against Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes to lawsuits stemming from wildfires in the western United States. “I’m a trial lawyer at heart,” Lee said, “so getting to work on the core tools that Everlaw provides for litigators is an absolute bonus.
