🚨 A real-world example of implementing measures that confirm #GenAI is trustworthy. IDC’s Ryan O'Leary, Esq.: “Everlaw is an eDiscovery software vendor that helps people collect and review evidence, mainly for litigation. The company has been at the forefront of AI in the legal space and makes its principles clear as day. Everlaw has also baked auditability into its software. Anytime GenAI creates an output, the end user can easily see the documentation that the model relied on.” “This creates extremely transparent AI outputs and helps limit ‘hallucinations’. The company also evaluates all its third-party partners for security and privacy within their models. Everlaw’s generative AI principles focus on control, confidence, transparency, privacy, and security. You do not need to focus on much more than that.” Read more in CIO, “Ethics of generative AI: To be innovative, you must first be trustworthy” > https://lnkd.in/gF3dyDfU #AI #GenAI #LegalTech

Two AI Compliance FAQs, answered by Dr. Philipp Hendel, Partner at drrp Rechtsanwälte. Netlight partnered with legal firm drrp Rechtsanwälte to bring together top-tier experts in AI engineering and digital law. Thanks Dr. Philipp Hendel and team for giving our clients definitive answers to their AI Compliance questions! 1. Does the AI Act apply to me? Yes if you are professionally involved in the development, sale or use of AI systems. The AI Act distinguishes between AI providers, deployers, distributors, importers, product manufacturers, and authorised representatives. Depending on which of these categories you or your company belong to, different rules and obligations apply. 💡 Most companies that use AI-based software are likely to be categorised as deployers. As long as they don’t brand an AI system with their own name or make substantial modifications to it. 2. How to know if my AI use cases are compliant? First of all, check whether the planned AI application falls under a ban. The AI Act prohibits AI systems that use manipulative techniques, exploit vulnerabilities or operate social scoring, predictive policing or facial recognition, for example. If none of these prohibitions apply, you are generally free to use AI systems. However, the AI Act does stipulate a number of compliance rules. The requirements for so-called "high-risk AI systems" are particularly strict. 💡 It is important to carefully check whether the planned AI application constitutes high-risk AI. The criteria for this are set out in the AI Act and its Annex III. In the landscape of lawmaking, imagine AI as a reliable ally, streamlining tasks and enhancing decision-making. Picture routine processes effortlessly handled, enabling lawmakers to focus on crafting impactful laws. When treated as a tool, not a weapon, AI swiftly analyzes data, providing valuable insights. To maintain its effectiveness, transparency is key. Clearly articulate how AI influences decisions to build trust. Ethical guidelines should prevent biases, ensuring alignment with legal standards. Human oversight complements AI, especially in nuanced legal matters. Prioritize robust data security measures, including encryption and continuous monitoring, to safeguard sensitive information. Regular audits are essential for identifying and addressing biases promptly, ensuring fairness and reliability. By embracing AI responsibly, as a tool with these precautions, we unlock its potential to revolutionize lawmaking, providing invaluable support to navigate complexities while upholding the integrity of our legislative system. #AIinGovernment #EthicalAI #DigitalTransformation #InnovationInLaw #eParliament
