Did you hear? Vaginal care is the new skin care .. and Evernow has big news 👇 We believe every woman should feel empowered in navigating her menopause journey with access to world-class care and affordable treatments to support her health. One of the greatest opportunities for impact is helping the 85% of peri/menopausal women who suffer from GSM (genitourinary symptoms of menopause) — vaginal dryness, frequent UTIs, painful sex, and more. GSM is both preventable and treatable with vaginal estrogen, but stigma, lack of access, and misinformation about its safety prevent millions of women from getting treatment. That’s why, starting today, we’ve decided to offer FREE ongoing FDA-approved vaginal estrogen cream with any 3-or-12 month membership. While this is great for Evernow members, we also aim to spark a broader movement across women’s health about the benefits of vaginal estrogen and the importance of better access. Join us in supporting #vaginalestrogen education & awareness, so every woman can get the care she deserves. Learn more: www.evernow.com #womenshealth #evernow #menopausecare

💥 Lets talk news in women's health... 💥 Veoza, a new drug for menopausal hot flushes, has been approved in the UK. As of this month, it will be available through private prescriptions only. According to the NHS, up to 80% of women going through menopause experience hot flushes, which can disrupt sleep and cause sweating and dizziness. Until now, women have had to rely on hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which is hormonal and not suitable for everyone. Veoza is a non-hormonal alternative, making it a game-changer for many women who prefer a hormone-free approach. While initial studies are promising, we look forward to seeing long-term data to compare it to the extensive research on HRT. #menopause #womenshealth #Veoza 📲 - 07572273021 📩 - saskia@conciliumsearch.com

One of the overriding concepts that we wanted to get across last week at my Art of Optimising Women’s Health masterclass was the importance of “balance” when it comes to thinking about oestrogen and progesterone. In the world of menopause replacement therapy (often termed HRT) the conversation focuses on oestrogen, and progesterone is an afterthought. Worse still is a menopausal woman who has undergone hysterectomy, and is suffering with hot flushes and night sweats , anxiety and low mood, in current practice guidelines, she is only offered oestradiol as “treatment”. Why? Because this model is based on the thinking that all progesterone does in the body is aid to prevent endometrial cancer. In comparison the model presented by Dr Jerilynn C. Prior from The Centre for Menstrual Cycle and Ovulation Research, compares the fundamental, complementary and counterbalancing effects of oestradiol AND progesterone at the cell and tissue levels in which oestradiol causes cell growth and proliferation while progesterone causes inhibition of proliferation and cell differentiation and maturation. This balancing act is foundational for multiple cells and tissues in the body other than reproductive tissue . We require progesterone as a much needed partner to oestradiol in the bone, the brain and nervous system - lets move this paradigm shift to be more representative of the true health of a woman! #WomensHealth #Hormones #WomensHormones #Menopause #Perimenopause #HRT #Oestrogen #Progesterone #FunctionalHealth

Vaginal dryness is a common issue that many women face during the stages of perimenopause and menopause. This condition can have a significant impact on a woman's overall well-being, affecting not only her physical health but also her emotional state. It is essential to address this issue openly and seek appropriate treatment to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. When experiencing vaginal dryness, women may notice a decrease in libido and sex drive, which can put a strain on intimate relationships. This lack of lubrication can lead to discomfort during sexual intercourse, making it less enjoyable and potentially causing pain. Additionally, the emotional toll of dealing with this issue can result in feelings of frustration, embarrassment, and even a sense of inadequacy. Furthermore, vaginal dryness can also have physical consequences beyond sexual health. It can lead to irritation, itching, and even urinary tract infections. The delicate balance of vaginal flora can be disrupted, increasing the risk of developing bacterial or fungal infections. These complications can further exacerbate the discomfort and distress associated with vaginal dryness, highlighting the importance of addressing this issue promptly. Seeking support from healthcare providers, such as gynecologists or menopause specialists, can help women navigate the challenges of vaginal dryness. Treatment options may include hormone therapy, vaginal moisturizers or lubricants, and lifestyle modifications. By addressing this issue proactively, women can improve their overall quality of life and maintain their sexual health and well-being during the transition into menopause. A recent study from Weill Cornell Medicine found that estrogen receptors in women's brains stay active and plentiful into their mid-60s, showing how the brain adapts during menopause. Using PET scans, researchers discovered higher levels of these receptors in women who had gone through or were going through menopause compared to those who hadn't yet, which correlated with changes in thinking and mood typical of menopause. This approach offers new ways to understand how menopause affects the brain and explore potential benefits of estrogen treatments. #menopause #menopauseatwork #menopauseintheworkplace #menowell

Perimenopause is the stage of life leading up to the last menstrual period. During this stage may have some of the symptoms of menopause. Woot woot, Australia has a new MHT product, for the "genitourinary syndrome of the menopause" Intrarosa, thanks to Theramex 🫶🙌. Why is this a big deal you might ask? Well last year you might recall I was super excited after listening to Dr Louise Newson interview urologist Dr Rachel Rubin on her podcast, "More than ‘a little vaginal dryness’: how vaginal hormones can transform lives": https://lnkd.in/gu27j6Jw The lack of estrogen in the genitourinary area can cause: 🤬Chronic UTIs 🤬Bladder problems 🤬Painful sex The start of the podcast sums it up 😳: "I believe the term vaginal dryness is killing women. Let me explain. Right. When we say women have vaginal dryness, we minimise their symptoms, we minimise that it’s no big deal, that you can just use a little lubricant, a little moisturiser. You’re fine. It’s just a little vaginal dryness. Suck it up, lady. You’ll be okay. But it’s not just a little vaginal dryness, it’s urinary frequency and urgency. It’s itching and burning of the vulva. It’s difficulty wearing pants.... it changes your vaginal pH so that the microbiome changes and the bad bacteria start to grow. And so by losing the acidity of the vagina, you get bladder infections which can kill you and do kill people. And so the term vaginal dryness is killing women because there are women, lots of women who are dying of urinary tract infections who could be prevented by being on vaginal hormones, which are essentially safe for pretty much everyone to use.......but we’re not prescribing it because we think, oh, it’s a little vaginal dryness.... and the problem is 70 and 80 and 90 year old women don’t associate their urinary tract infections with menopause. But that is what is the cause." Dr Rubin specifically talked about the benefits of Intrarosa, as the only vaginal estrogen to contain DHEA: "This is an androgen story, because the tissue, we have lots of data to show that the vulva vestibule, the urethra, the bladder, the vagina has not just estrogen receptors, but testosterone receptors as well. And we know that a woman’s testosterone can change sort of later on in her late 30s, early 40s. We see libido drop and we do see changes in the bladder, urethra, vagina and vulva at that time as well" There are two other vaginal hormones available in Australia, Vagifem and Ovestin. All three are fabulous - if you're a midlife woman or person born with ovaries, consider if it might be something that could support your midlife journey This yesterday, from the incredible, effervescent Dr Ceri Cashell made me smile 😊 https://lnkd.in/gxhvk5tT "Because this is absolutely awesome 25 years of bladder problems GONE after 3 months of vaginal estrogen ****** Don’t suffer in silence and ask your mate/ your mum / your granny / your aunty if they’re on it .. guarantee at least one of them needs it" #easypeasy
