This year, UK corporates are more optimistic on M&A, with increased ambition for larger deal sizes and cross-border dealmaking. Almost a quarter (24%) of FTSE 350 directors surveyed report they are most likely to pursue ‘transformational’ M&A in 2024 – double last year’s figure. M&A activities are on the rise in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa compared to H1 2023. The EMEA region saw a 33% year-over-year growth in M&A activities, totaling $438bn in the first half of 2024, fueled by 41 large deals exceeding $2bn, especially in the UK and the technology sector. At the same time, the US region accounted for 57% of global deal volumes, with deal values increasing by 33% to $813bn.
