Our Quayside project for CField Construction features a high-end Daikin UK Altherma unit, a high-efficiency water-to-water heat pump with integrated domestic hot water (DHW) tank. The heat pump in each apartment works independently but is connected to a common central water loop to form a communal system. This highly efficient heat pump network provides economical heating, hot water and cooling for the building at relatively low ambient water temperatures. Compared with the high distribution losses that occur in typical communal heating systems - which lead to overheated buildings and wasted energy - the low ambient loop means that heat losses are reduced by more than 90%. New energy efficient heat pump and VRF systems, high spec lighting and controls, fabric enhancements, and no fossil fuels. Meadows Energy Consulting assisted by producing a full dynamic simulation model of the building, with the level 5 EPC lodged today.
