Absolutely true! This is precisely why the value and importance of design shine brightest when navigating through change. Reflecting on the ADDIE model, it's crucial to begin with the first step: assessing your people. Understanding their needs, capabilities, and perspectives lays a solid foundation for effective change management, making design even more valuable and essential in the process.
🎥 After working with 50+ campuses over 20 years, I've found that barriers to change and innovation are simpler than we think. 🚀 Often, people aren't resistant to change—they're reacting to poorly designed change processes. 🌟 Empathy and curiosity in design are key. We can make change & easier more effective. . #Innovation #ChangeManagement #HigherEd From my recent keynote at Arizona State University's #Folcfest.

Epidemiologist I Research and Business to shape the future I Karolinska Institutet I Interested in Medical Affairs
Just wrapped up an insightful workshop at tht Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship, a hub for professional development courses and workshops. Immense gratitude to Anna Birgersdotter for her expert facilitation and to all participants for the shared wisdom. This workshop underscored the vital need for master and PhD students to broaden their horizons beyond their specialized fields. In an academic landscape where a mere 2% of PhD holders find long-term careers within academia, the acquisition of business and entrepreneurial skills isn't just an advantage—it's a necessity. Expanding our skillsets to include areas such as innovation and strategic thinking prepares us for diverse career paths, making us more adaptable and equipped to tackle the challenges of today's dynamic world. Three Key Messages for PhD Students: 1. Diversify Your Skills: The world beyond academia values versatility. Embrace opportunities to learn about business, innovation, and leadership. 2. Think Entrepreneurially: Viewing your research through an entrepreneurial lens can open up new avenues for impact and collaboration. 3. Network Broadly: Build connections outside your field. Diverse networks inspire innovation and can lead to unexpected career opportunities. #Innovation #Business #SSES

Shift Silos into Systems for ROI | Cross-Functional Leadership | Enterprise Portfolio Architect | Acquisition Lifecycle Solutions | Education Partner | GovCon & Industry | Inventor | Proud Mom
One of my greatest moments as a parent is witnesseing my children’s genuine interest in creating value as young leaders. My eldest, Lauren (11), has attended over numerous trainings and events with me and our consultants. She asks to join, enjoys helping set up, organize materials, and greet participants. Lauren inspired me to expand our training offerings by suggesting we create programs for her age group. As an education partner, we are excited to present our upcoming program and products to a variety of schools for young inventors and entrepreneurs, including a board game and guidebook, co-authored by Lauren Rasmussen. Although she is an exceptional student and math scholar aspiring to become an engineer, I cherish that she wants to learn the entrepreneurial process as she creates her own leadership path. For now,she contributes to our youth program, gaining valuable experience for her future. As her mom, my goal is to empower her, help her navigate the journey of exploring ecosystems and developing products from her imagination while having fun. Today, I celebrate my eldest daughter (and intern)🥰in her first published achievement. I will post a link to all new products as they are uploaded to the site. We hope that you will enjoy these new products in a collaborative group or study session with your students, families and friends. #comingsoon #proudparent #inventor #entrepreneur #experientiallearning #creators #momlife #familybusiness #ilovebeingamom #govcon #departmentofeducation #youtheducation #empowerimagination #freetocreate #newproduct #pdma #balancing #perspective #economics #legacy #academicexcellence #communityservice

If you are in any #leadership role in #academia, most likely you have to answer regularly the question of "What is #societal #impact of your department/team?". It's usually asked by those who decide on #funding, so it's the one we better answer well. Yet it often feels like "Go I know not whither and fetch I know not what"... Have you been there? In this short piece for the Times Higher Education, we provide a roadmap that can help you in this quest and figure out together with your staff and stakeholders ❓ what societal impact means for you, ❓ how to measure it, and ❓ how much should be spent on its measurement and communicating the value Check it here https://lnkd.in/d9rx-Fc4 Thank you Olga Ryazanova and Peter McNamara for this collaboration! It draws on the combination of our research expertise with our experiences in different administration roles and I hope you find it useful. This practice-oriented piece is based on our paper published in the Academy of Management Learning and Education, you can find it here if you fancy reading more https://lnkd.in/dVZhJ9dP (if you do not have access, email me and I will share a copy). The original illustration is by Ivan Bilibin (1876-1942), called "Vasilisa the Beautiful at the Hut of Baba Yaga". I thought it reflects the gravity and challenging nature of our quest for #societal #impact (and I hope it made you smile) Maynooth University School of Business Maynooth University #research #socialimpact #businessschools #researchimpact #researchmatters #academicleadership https://lnkd.in/d9rx-Fc4
