This month, we're raising awareness for Graft vs. Host Disease. In GVHD, the donated stem cells received during an allogeneic stem cell transplant view the body’s cells as a threat and attack, according to Cleveland Clinic. Everyday Health's comprehensive GVHD guide provides trusted information to the GVHD community throughout all stages of their journey, from first symptoms to treatment options: https://lnkd.in/ess8ARBi Learn more about how you can help support our growing rare disease network by reaching out to your Everyday Health Sales partner today. #health #wellness #healthcare #gvhd #raredisease

Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) causes irreversible scarring to the lungs and treatment will not always be effective in stopping the ultimate progression of the disease. What hope is out there for adults and children diagnosed with it? In our latest success story we shine the light on the inspiring work of COST Action Chair Killian Hurley and his network of patients, clinicians, and scientists who have been opening up research in this area. The four year COST Action ENTeR chILD project has been followed by a 1 year COST Innovators Grant Open-ILD where the network has created an Open Access resource of patient-derived stem cells in order to accelerate drug development and reduce the side effects of existing medication. Every year, on the last day of February, we observe Rare Disease Day. According to National Organization for Rare Disorders, 1 in 10 Americans is living with a rare disease. Although each disease itself is rare, the occurrence of rare disease is not. This day offers us another opportunity to bring awareness to those living with DMD and other rare diseases while celebrating the strides that have already been made in our mission to make stem cell therapy accessible for all. Since this is a leap year, Rare Disease Day falls on the rarest day of all, February 29th. This helps to spread awareness of some of the rarest diseases in the world. #RareDiseaseDay #ComingTogetherForACure #CTFAC #Duchenne #MuscularDystrophy #StemCellTherapy #RareDisease

As April draws to a close, we reflect on a special day, April 11th, also known as #WorldParkinsonsDay. The best thing we know to do, to raise awareness of #PD and it’s implications, is to do our jobs to the absolute best of our ability. HBRF is privileged to administer a long-running, extremely diverse suite of #research in #Parkinsons, and if you or a loved one live with the condition, you can be part of it! HBRF is currently enrolling for an FDA-authorized allogeneic study (using donor stem cells) in Parkinson’s Disease, which means participation in this trial is completely free (other than travel, if you are not local to #Houston). Did you know that asthma affects millions of #children worldwide, impacting their daily lives and limiting their activities? Despite current treatments, many children still struggle with persistent symptoms, frequent exacerbations, and impaired quality of life. At Giostar, we're exploring new possibilities for #asthma treatment, including innovative therapies like mesenchymal stem cells. These stem cells have shown promising anti-inflammatory properties, which could help heal damaged airways and provide long-term relief for children with asthma. By infusing stem cells, we aim to offer a potential alternative that could significantly improve the lives of children living with this chronic condition. Imagine a future where children with asthma can enjoy sports, play outside on cold days, and attend school without limitations. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and the potential of mesenchymal #stemcells to transform the lives of children with asthma. Together, we're working towards a healthier future for all. International Women’s day Each year calls attention to women’s rights, living conditions and also to women’s health. We’d like to take the opportunity to draw attention to some alarming perspectives on pancreatic cancer. Women and men are usually similarly affected by this silent killer with comparable frequency. In the UK though a recent analysis (www.cancerresearchuk.org) has shown that there is a rise in incidence especially in younger women, potentially due to changes in diet habits. Healthcare systems and science are called to improve early detection - pancreatic cancer is mostly diagnosed in a late stage and has one of the highest mortality rates of all cancers, also treatment is difficult. Surgical resection is the only option to cure patients but often this is not possible. OncoSil therapy can help to make primary inoperable tumors in locally advanced, pancreatic cancer resectable. OncoSil is committed to improving outcomes for people with locally advanced pancreatic cancer by making available targeted therapies.
