ATA Hails $200 Million Truck Parking Bill The American Trucking Associations (ATA) applauds the House Appropriations Subcommittee for including $200 million dedicated to truck parking in its latest funding bill. This initiative, championed by Congressman Steve Womack addresses the critical shortage of safe parking for truck drivers, enhancing safety and efficiency across the supply chain. ATA President and CEO Chris Spear emphasized that this investment will alleviate stress for drivers and improve road safety for all motorists. Why This Matters to Truck Drivers and Recruiters? As a third-party truck driver recruiting agency, we understand the challenges drivers face daily. A severe lack of safe, accessible parking is one of the top concerns. This shortage forces drivers to park in unsafe or illegal locations or stop driving earlier than necessary to secure a spot, resulting in lost income and increased stress. The $200 million allocation will significantly improve parking availability, making it easier for drivers to find safe rest spots. This not only enhances driver safety and well-being but also improves recruitment and retention by addressing one of the industry’s most pressing issues. WoW~ Indiana has so few public charging stations, 536 (52 cars per station). Perhaps us Hoosiers prefer to charge at home or are our stations more for others just passing through? Ohio by contrast has 1,555 stations (33 cars per station), nearly 3x more than Indiana! Another interesting why to slice this metric would be by length of highways in the state or by land area. The mature market in California by contrast has very high ratio of 80 cars per charging station and New Jersey has the highest at 92! In NJ's case, they are probably limited by available land to install them or permitting...

In Texas, there is no statewide law prohibiting riding a bicycle on the sidewalk. However, local ordinances in some cities or towns may restrict or prohibit bicycles on sidewalks, particularly in busy commercial or pedestrian areas. For example, some cities, such as Austin and Houston, have local ordinances that prohibit riding bicycles on sidewalks in specific zones. It is essential to be aware of local regulations and guidelines regarding bicycle use on sidewalks to ensure the safety of both cyclists and pedestrians.
