NetJets and Signature Aviation broke ground last week on a cutting-edge facility in Las Vegas—the first-ever new-build collaboration between the companies. The extensive campus at Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) will feature a custom-designed NetJets exclusive-use terminal, NetJets Service Hub™, and two hangars. Projected to be operational by 2027, this state-of-the-art space will allow NetJets to augment aircraft access and elevate the day-of-travel experience for its customers—respectfully referred to as “Owners” by the company—flying to or from the western U.S. and beyond. 🌐 #CORSIAUpdate 🌐 CORSIA's journey, aiming for carbon-neutral growth in aviation from 2020, has moved from its pilot phase (2021-2023) to the first phase (2024-2026). Here's what's changing and how operators can prepare for the next steps: 🔹 Pilot Phase Recap: Initially, States had two options for calculating operators' offsetting requirements - based on either recent emissions or using 2019 as a baseline. This phase was about adapting to CORSIA's framework. 🔹 Transition to First Phase: Now, offsetting is more straightforward, based on each year's emissions against a modified baseline (85% of 2019's CO2 emissions). This change simplifies planning and compliance. 🔹 Looking Ahead to the Second Phase (2027-2035): Participation criteria will evolve, and it's crucial for operators to stay ahead. Continuing to monitor and report emissions diligently is key, as it influences future offsetting requirements and compliance strategies. 📈 Actionable Insights for Operators: 1) Keep accurate track of emissions year-on-year. 2) Stay updated on your State's participation and CORSIA's evolving requirements. 3) Begin strategizing for the mixed approach in the second phase, where individual growth factors will play a larger role.
