Today, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has found children in Gaza are facing imminent famine and will die as an outright result of starvation. Our experience as humanitarians in Somalia, South Sudan, Ethiopia and elsewhere, tells us that when people - especially children – fall into such extreme levels of acute malnutrition, they require an immediate supervised medical and nutritional intervention rather than a one-off food assistance. Children will die without urgent action. We must act before it’s too late. We call for an immediate ceasefire and unconditional humanitarian access. 📍Sudan Emergency Update Sudan is on the brink of famine, with the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) initiative reporting that 25.6 million people, over half of the population, will face crisis or emergency levels of food insecurity between June and September 2024. This includes 755,000 people in ten states facing catastrophic levels of food insecurity. Additionally, Sudan is experiencing the world’s largest internal displacement crisis, over 11 million people internally displaced. Medair is on the ground, scaling up our efforts to provide critical aid. Since January 2024, we've consulted 37,082 patients, treated 2,620 children and mothers against malnutrition, reached 30,657 people with cholera awareness messages, and provided NFI distributions to 2,775 households. Your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission. Discover more about our impact and how you can contribute: https://lnkd.in/eeiXz8UQ #SudanCrisis #HumanitarianAid #Medair #NonProfit

This Easter, consider a donation.. https://lnkd.in/eghHb6cr Yemen’s national socioeconomic systems are on the brink of collapse. Ongoing conflict, massive displacement, and unpredictable climate changes have left families susceptible to outbreaks of communicable diseases. Millions of children lack access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services, causing the country to experience frequent cholera, measles, diphtheria, and other vaccine-preventable disease outbreaks. The situation is now so bad that nearly all of Yemen’s children – 4 out of 5 – need urgent humanitarian help to survive. Twice the number of all the children in Ireland – over 2 million – are dangerously malnourished and need immediate treatment, while more than 400,000 are now facing starvation.

Since the beginning of the conflict in #Sudan, our Swiss NGO partners, including Caritas Schweiz, Medair, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse , Save the Children Switzerland and Ärzte ohne Grenzen Schweiz / Médecins Sans Frontières Suisse, have been providing vital emergency aid to the people affected by the conflict in Sudan and neighbouring countries. ➡️ We have already been able to fund 6 #humanitarian projects, providing access to #healthcare, food aid, hygiene and essential items, as well as fishing and farming kits. They also include #protection and #psychosocial support for those affected. ➡️ The humanitarian needs remain enormous. In Sudan, more than 18 million people are at risk of famine. Neighbouring countries hosting 1.8 million refugees have inadequate infrastructure to cope with this massive influx. The vast majority of displaced people are women and children, who are not only traumatised by the war, but also in desperate need of food, clean water and medical care. We need your support to meet the immense needs of those affected by the conflict. Donations can be made on our website: https://lnkd.in/dh3DFx-W

🚨 Urgent Fundraiser 🚨 Zambia is facing a devastating cholera outbreak, with over 400 lives lost and 10,000 affected. Schools are closed, and a soccer stadium has become a treatment center. This crisis spans nearly half of Zambia's districts and 9 out of 10 provinces, endangering over 20 million lives. Dr. Paul Ngwakum, UNICEF's regional health adviser, points to long-term poor water sanitation and climate change-induced floods as key causes. Children bear over 52% of cases, with alarming fatality rates. Cholera, a bacterial infection causing severe diarrhea, is transmitted through contaminated water. LifeStraw's filters and purifiers effectively remove Vibrio cholerae bacteria from drinking water. LifeStraw, in collaboration with key partners like @living_water, are distributing filters and purifiers to affected communities, offering a lifeline of safe drinking water. We've dispatched 5 community-size purifiers (serving 5,000 people) and are producing and shipping 16,000 personal filters this week. THE NEED IS IMMENSE, and our funds are stretched thin due to ongoing humanitarian crises across the globe. Please lend your support by donating today. 💙 https://lnkd.in/eJPyv-mY #zambiacholerarelief #safewaterisahumanright

As of 2024, the malnutrition crisis among children in Yemen is dire. An estimated 2.7 million children under the age of five are acutely malnourished, with nearly 600,000 suffering from severe acute malnutrition. This alarming trend is exacerbated by ongoing conflict, economic instability, and limited access to healthcare services. In response, the Human Development Fund has launched a Malnutrition Project aimed at supporting 500 infants and toddlers in IDP/refugee camps in Marib, Yemen. In a world where the struggles of innocent Yemenis often go unnoticed, it is crucial for compassionate individuals like you to provide life-saving assistance. Become a source of hope and part of the solution by contributing to this cause. Visit hdfund.org/yemen to make a difference. 🇾🇪

Humanitarian crisis for Palestinians - DOUBLE YOUR DONATIONS Over the course of just a few days, more than 4,000 Palestinians have been killed, including 1,500 children, as well as health workers and journalists. Over 13,000 people have been wounded, and 1,000 are still missing under the rubble. In a single night, an estimated 500 people were killed in Al Ahli Hospital; 25 hospitals have been damaged so far. 1 million people have evacuated northern Gaza as a land incursion is expected. A complete siege has cut off all food, water, fuel and electricity, and almost all internet to 2.3 million people. Terrifying scenes show clouds of smoke engulfing the entire horizon, and of generations of families carrying what they can as they flee to southern Gaza. Gaza’s only power plant has shut off, plunging the region into darkness. Hospital generators run on fuel, and medical staff have warned they fuel will run out in a matter of hours. If the generators turn off, not only will they be unable to treat the injured, but those dependent on equipment to live – including premature babies, and those on life support - will die. Hospitals, mosques, water sources and residential buildings are being struck without warning, wiping out entire neighbourhoods. Those who escape and seek shelter in schools, but these have also been targeted by bombs. https://lnkd.in/duCAvg_v

The deterioration of living conditions in #Gaza over the last three months cannot be overstated with 85% of the population displaced from their homes and now enduring dire living conditions. The healthcare system is in disarray, with many hospitals unable to function. Widespread diseases such as acute respiratory infections, diarrhoea, scabies and meningitis are overwhelming the few functioning medical facilities that are already low on essential supplies. So far, IHP has sent two shipments to Gaza, working with our partner Anera. One shipment, containing over 68,000 treatments of vital medicines entered into Gaza on Friday and will be used immediately to meet urgent medical needs. The second shipment containing over four tonnes of medical supplies is being stored in Jordan and will follow into Gaza shortly. Plans for further shipments for Gaza are underway. In response to wider regional tensions, IHP is working proactively with our partners to identify potential flashpoints and is prepositioning stock ready to be shipped to the area as needs arise. We have also coordinated two shipments to Lebanon, and one to the West Bank since the start of the escalations. We anticipate the need for medicines and medical supplies to support the ongoing humanitarian crisis to grow throughout the coming year. Your donations are crucial to our continued efforts in the Middle East and will mean we're able to support those in need now and into the future. Please stand with us today as we strive to address the immense needs 💙 #globalimpact #humanitarianaid #medicalaid #globalhealtheducation #givebacknow #donations #helpinghands #changelives #fundraising #makingadifference
