🇺🇸 Big news from the USA ! 🌟 Believer Meats is building what will become the world’s largest #cultivatedmeat production facility in Wilson, North Carolina, complete with an innovation center and tasting kitchen. 🐔 Scheduled to be operational by early 2025, the facility will have the capacity to produce 12,000 metric tons (or 26 million lbs) of cultivated chicken annually – all without the need to slaughter animals. 🤝 As part of the partnership, GEA Group will design and commission custom bioreactors for Believer’s cell cultivation process, aimed at achieving high cell density and yields. The companies will continue to work together on optimizing equipment, refining processes, and scaling innovations to support large-scale cultivated meat production. #innovateforchange #newfoods #environmentalimpact

Believer Meats (BM) will inaugurate the world's largest cultivated meat factory in the summer of 2024. It is under construction in #Wilson, North Carolina and broke ground in December 2022. Once fully operational, the facility is set to have a production capacity of at least 10,000 metric tons, equivalent to 22 million pounds (10 million Kg) (Cision 2022)(1). To put that into perspective, the average American consumes 180 pounds (80 Kg) of meat per capita per year, which equates to 125000 people per year. This project represents an initial planned investment of $123.35 (€116,52) million within Wilson County, NC. It will have a footprint of 200,000 square feet (18,580m²). There's also potential for expansion in the future, indicating a scope for increased production or diversified operations (1). The CEO of BM Gustavo Burger tells us that cultivating meat is a continual process and adds that it can take up to six to eight days to harvest a specific cut of meat.
