Happy Easter egg hunting with family and friends with this fun schematic of Waste-To-Energy (WTE): A technology used the world over to use trash and make steam and electricity, recycle metals and use the residue to make roads. When you throw trash, if it’s not managed by #WTE it, its headed to a landfill. In a landfill, it rots or sits there forever making methane and polluting the atmosphere with methane and toxic gases and groundwater with metals for at least 100 years. Using #WTE, within an hour the trash has -generated energy to power a home, -separated metal to be recycled, -made residue that can be used to build roads (coming soon at Covanta Oahu). And while it’s fun to think there are tiny people running around making a #WTE plant run, this is a superbly advanced engineered tech designed and operated by smart people I get to work with.

🍋 Making lemons out of lemonade 🍋 🍋 No - making lemonade out of lemons. 🍋 Writing this while a bit tired - our flight back from the conference got delayed and all connecting flights were re-routed. At many times in the 2.5 hour line wait to find out the rebooking situation, I found myself struggling to remain optimistic while working through the challenges of uncertainty, fatigue, sadness as I wouldn't get to see my family for at least another evening. In times like this, it can be difficult to keep a positive mindset. Plans that didn't work out. Unanswered questions. Rebooking...and rebooking again. But then, there are glimmers of the silver lining. ☁ The gratitude of being able to be on a flight at all. The gratitude of the flight staff who is working hard to ensure that everyone can get to their destination safely. The gratitude of a colleague who was also traveling from the conference offering to support in any way Jodi Taylor - you're a gem! 💎 💛 The perspective of being able-bodied and mobile, able to travel and return home to loved ones without much difficulty. In the difficult times, shifting a mindset can help one see the other angles in the situation.
