Is it too soon for a standalone AI hardware piece? With the buzz around Sam Altman and Jony Ive’s rumored AI hardware project, I can’t help but wonder: do we need a brand-new device when AI integration is already thriving in existing tech? Building a fresh brand in a market ruled by established giants seems like an uphill battle. We’ve seen attempts like Rabbit R1, which struggled despite innovation. Even with Altman and Ive behind this new venture, will it succeed with so many variables in play? Or, could this be another "failure to fail" moment - a home run from past learnings and experience? Interesting chart from Charlie Bilello showing the capex spending by the major tech companies over the last year. A good portion of this capex is going to build out AI which should benefit the picks and shovel companies like NVDA as long as this continues. At some point, the capex will eventually level off and fall which would put pressure on companies like NVDA that were the recipient of this massive surge in capex as well as putting pressure on these giant tech companies to monetize the capex spending made on AI. #techcompanies #capex #ai

Everyone's talking about #AI as if it's the latest trend, but in reality, it has been around since 1950. For context: the *color television*, the *transistor radio*, the *nonstick pan*, and *nondairy creamer* were also invented in the 50's. It's certainly has come a long way. With a long way to go. AI doesn't start and end with #LLMs. LLMs don't start and end with #Transformers. However, today most LLMs are built upon them. We built #Jamba, a groundbreaking Mamba-Transformer hybrid model, but we've got more coming down pipeline that just might make today's tech seem as outdated as inventions from the 1950s.
