Every person who justified the destruction, mayhem, and death that passed for ‘protests’ after the death of George Floyd — including Israel supporters — helped pave the way for like-minded individuals to justify what #Hamas did in Israel on October 7. The targeting of police, burning down of businesses (including Black-owned), and the billions of dollars pledged or donated to pro-Hamas front groups like #BlackLivesMatter  was done in the name of ‘resistance’ and ‘justice’. And when organizations like IBSI.org warned that destroying neighborhoods and livelihoods was no way to achieve justice, many were enraged as they mis-quoted Dr. King on the nature of riots. This is the death cycle that has exploited poor/vulnerable Black communities in America since the 1960s and sadly, only now are some seeing the correlation between this and the praising of Hamas. Raising Awareness about the Rising Antisemitism in the UK Dear Connections, I hope this message finds you well. Today, I want to bring your attention to a deeply concerning issue that has been escalating in our society - antisemitism. Recent reports indicate that antisemitic incidents in the UK have reached a record high. The Community Security Trust (CST), a Jewish security charity, recorded 4,103 anti-Jewish hate incidents in 2023. This is a significant increase from 1,662 incidents in 2022 and almost double the previous record of 2,255 incidents in 2021 The surge in antisemitism has been particularly noticeable since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 72. In the aftermath of this event, antisemitic incidents skyrocketed, with a 589% increase compared to the same period in 2022. This rise in antisemitism is not just a statistic; it’s a reality that affects people in their daily lives. Many Jewish individuals, including school children, have reported experiencing verbal abuse and threats. This is deeply troubling and unacceptable. As a society, we must stand against this form of hatred. We need to foster an environment of respect and understanding, where everyone, regardless of their faith or background, feels safe and valued. The African Holocaust: The Absence of Victim Support for Enslaved Africans and the Unfulfilled Necessity The era of slavery, spanning centuries, marks one of the darkest chapters in human history. The atrocities committed against enslaved Africans, often referred to as the "African Holocaust," were widespread and indescribably cruel. Despite the immense hardships they endured, enslaved Africans and their descendants never received the victim support they deserved. What makes this even more disconcerting is that victim support is the norm for victims of other horrors, such as wars, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks. Countless organizations and programs provide aid to these victims, with research and financial assistance readily available. However, enslaved Africans and their descendants have not received the same level of attention and support to this day. This is a glaring omission in recognizing the immense suffering they endured and a denial of their fundamental right to victim support. The Horrors of Slavery Slavery was not an isolated incident but a system that persisted worldwide for centuries. Enslaved Africans were ripped from their homelands in Africa, often under extremely violent circumstances. Forced migration, loss of identity and culture, physical and psychological violence, and forced labor under harsh conditions were some of the horrors they had to endure. Why Victim Support is Necessary Enslaved Africans and their descendants have never received the acknowledgment, support, and assistance necessary to process the traumatic aftermath of slavery. Victim support is crucial for several reasons: Recognition of Suffering: Victim support would have contributed to the acknowledgment of the immense suffering experienced by enslaved Africans. Recognizing the trauma is an essential step in the healing process. Psychological Recovery: The traumatic consequences of slavery, such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety, have been passed down from generation to generation. Victim support would have helped address these mental health issues and promote recovery. Cultural and Identity Loss: Enslaved Africans were robbed of their cultural and personal identity. Victim support could help in restoring lost cultural ties and rebuilding self-esteem. Social Acknowledgment: Victim support would contribute to recognizing slavery as a historical crime against humanity. This could aid in addressing the legacy of racism and inequality. The Consequences of the Absence of Victim Support The absence of victim support for enslaved Africans has had profound consequences. Many descendants of enslaved Africans have often found themselves in positions of vulnerability and inequality. This has led to an ongoing cycle of trauma and inequality that persists through the generations. For anyone curious about the program, Wendel shares some insight: When I get calls, I will ask the caller “So what can I do for you today, how can I be of help to you?” They will often say “will you pray for me” or “I need prayer for this…” They will also at times ask me to read a passage of scripture from the Bible. We will then discuss it together: “How does the passage speak to you? Do you have a Bible Study at prison? What are you studying? -Church attacks and violence on the rise “In 2023, Family Research Council identified 436 incidents—more than double the number identified in 2022 and more than eight times the number identified in 2018. These findings suggest that hostility against U.S. churches is not only on the rise but also accelerating.” “Between January 2018 and November 2023, at least 915 acts of hostility occurred. The types of acts include vandalism, arson, gun-related incidents, bomb threats, and more.” Three immediate and effective steps houses of worship can take now are: 1. Bring in an outside group to conduct a comprehensive threat asessment of the entire church facility including the perimeter and grounds. This will identify vulnerabilities, many of which can be remedied with little expense. 2. Organize a church safety team. There are usually people with law enforcement, military and security backgrounds in most churches who are ideal volunteers for church safety teams. These individuals are the eyes and ears for the congregation during peak activity times and are prepard to respond when unusual activity is observed. 3. Develop a culture of awareness and vigilance among the church family. This is simply making people aware that everyone has a role to play in awareness and being alert to behavior that looks out of place and knowing who they can contact to report their concern. A personal letter to all Jews around the world…… We said, ‘Never Again’. For one second, I would like every Jew in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and the rest of the world to imagine a world where Israel no longer exists. Just think about it. Really think about it. Imagine a world where there was no Israel Defense Force. Now look at the Anti-Semitism in YOUR country. Think about the Anti-Semitism in YOUR country. Don’t dismiss it – it is there. It is real. Look at celebrations where citizens of your country delighted in the murder of Jewish children, the raping of Jewish women, the torture of both men and women of all ages. The decapitation and abuse of children. Imagine 199 Jewish people held hostage by Hamas. These people are YOUR family Then think – what if there was no Israel and no defense force to protect world Jewry. What if you one day had no where to run. No where to live in in freedom. If you live ‘outside Israel’ we know everyone is doing everything they can - but we need more - donate more, amplify on social media, educate the ignorant, pressure Governments – all of this helps, stay in the fight and don’t let this situation be anything but your priority. Everyone has a role to play because ‘Never Again’ starts with every Jewish person around the world ensuring we do our part.
