Thermal imaging pioneer, Dr. William Perrish describes Obsidian Sensors' technology as "the biggest innovation since the invention of the microbolometer." Historically thermal imaging systems have been expensive and initially only used by the military. Obsidian has developed a manufacturing process that enables the creation of their thermal sensors at 1/10 the cost of current providers. Thermal imaging cameras with Obsidian's technology one day may be standard equipment on automobiles, like radars and cameras. Imagine a pedestrian or animal crossing the street in front of your car, unseen by your headlights. Thermal image sensors provide a new level of information for the vehicle and driver.
