🌈 Thrilled to Announce! 🌈 I am excited to have successfully completed the "Creating Equity for LGBTQ+" certification, a course that deepened my understanding of fostering inclusivity, promoting diversity, and ensuring equitable opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community. This certification has been incredibly insightful, shedding light on the complex challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and equipping me with the knowledge to be a more effective advocate for equity in the workplace and beyond. Key Learnings: - The critical role of intersectionality in understanding diverse identities and experiences. - How to create inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and promote psychological safety. - Best practices for supporting LGBTQ+ employees and colleagues through policies, allyship, and community engagement. - The importance of challenging biases, rethinking traditional norms, and fostering a culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered. Why This Matters: Creating equity isn’t just a professional responsibility—it’s a personal commitment to building environments where all individuals can thrive, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. By understanding the barriers that LGBTQ+ individuals often face, we can all take actionable steps toward dismantling those barriers and championing true inclusion. As we move forward, let’s continue to engage in these conversations, challenge the status quo, and work collectively to build a future where equity is not just a goal, but a reality. #DiversityAndInclusion #LGBTQEquity #Leadership #Inclusivity #CreatingChange #ContinuousLearning #Allyship #EquityInAction

Customer Communications and Literature Lead at RBS International | Global Co-Chair of NatWest Group’s LGBTQ+ Employee Rainbow Network
It was a pleasure to sit down with Amanda Whicher from Hays to talk about my own personal journey to self-acceptance and the hugely important work of employee networks. Thank you to Gary Sheldrake and Josh Caple for asking me to be involved. I took away some invaluable reflections from our conversation: 📍Role Models have been, and continue to be, a huge part of our journeys. Seeing others model the type of people we want to become whilst succeeding in their careers is hugely important when we talk about LGBT+ inclusion. 🪜Equity is the key building block for achieving true inclusion. We must recognise that everyone begins from a different starting line and put in appropriate support to overcome barriers and obstacles. The LGBT+ community is beautifully diverse and intersectional - it’s important to lean into that. 🏳️🌈 Creating psychological safety is an essential first step to allowing LGBT+ people to talk about their own experiences and challenges. Creating that safety empowers people to become leaders and reach their full potential.
🏳️🌈 It’s Pride month, so there’s no better time to share the first episode of our brand-new video series with you, Leading With Pride. 💡 The video series will see LGBTQ+ professionals from a huge variety of sectors interviewed by senior leaders within Hays, during which they’ll explore their own career journeys, challenges and highlights, any advice they’d give to others from the community, and much more. 🚀 We’re kickstarting with our first episode, featuring Callum Stridgeon, Digital Innovation Product Owner at NatWest Group, who is being interviewed by Amanda Whicher, UKI Technology Director at Hays. Callum shares his experience of being one of the chairs of the Natwest Rainbow Network – an employee support group for LGBTQ+ professionals, alongside his experience of coming out in the workplace and the advice he’d give employers regarding inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees, among many other topics. 👇 Watch the full episode below, or check out the following links: ▶️ https://lnkd.in/esaUBNN9 🎧 https://lnkd.in/eGyue42s #pridemonth #leadingwithpride #workingforyourtomorrow

🌈 How can we do more to support our LGBTQ+ employees? 👇 Despite companies setting clear values relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion it seems many employees still don't feel included. Perhaps it's time to ask yourself - besides LinkedIn posts and publishing values on a website what am I doing to improve the lives of people in the LGBTQ+ community? 💭 Remember actions speak louder than words. ✅ Tackle key issues faced by your employees - 44% of trans people avoid certain streets as they don't feel safe as an LGBTQ+ person ✅ Show true support through meaningful gestures - use targeted social and wellbeing activities to reassure your employees that they have your full support ✅ Listen to your employees - not everyone wants to receive support in the same way, some employees want to be celebrated for their differences and others just want to be quietly accepted. Treat everyone with respect as an individual. Here at Soteria we believe no one should feel intimidated to be who they are. If you'd like to help support your employees' rights to safety and security get in touch today! #PrideMonth #Pride #Diversity #Inclusion

Pride Month is a vibrant celebration of acceptance, equality and recognising the work of LGBTQIA+ people. But for LGBTQ+ employees, the workplace can sometimes feel less than inclusive. Even though companies may commit to changing their logo and hosting a few events during Pride Month, most do not stick to their efforts past the month of June. These performative actions and gestures, also known as rainbow washing, just aren't enough. Here's how you can be a true ally in the workplace: 1️⃣ Listen & Learn: Seek out LGBTQ+ colleagues, ask about their experiences, and challenges and for ideas on creating an inclusive environment. 2️⃣ Challenge Bias: Educate yourself and others on LGBTQ+ identities and terminology. 3️⃣ Advocate & Speak Up: Combat microaggressions, use inclusive language, and champion LGBTQ+ voices. 4️⃣ Build Belonging: Support ERGs, prioritize inclusive language, and celebrate LGBTQ+ achievements. 5️⃣ Go Beyond Symbols: Invest in lasting change, not just performative gestures. 6️⃣ Continuously Improve: Inclusion is a journey, regularly assess progress and identify opportunities to grow. Download our LGBTQ+ Toolkit packed with practical resources and a roadmap to building a more inclusive workplace for the LGBTQIA+ community all year round: https://lnkd.in/eqA42qww #pride #pridemonth #dei #inclusion #LQBTQIA #allyship #rainbowwashing
