🪟 The latest updates of the Quest 3 device seems to include an automatic space scanning, that detects walls, tables, windows or couch. The neat feature is how this segmentation is used, by switching to seated mode when moving to the couch or automatically using your desk in Horizon Workrooms.
🧠 The Muse headband is a lightweight EEG-measuring device, originally designed to help in a meditation practice. Very easy to use, we also see applications in interactive art experiences. Using it as a control device for computers or game is another challenge though, as this device only delivers raw data.
🥽 Slowly, high-quality games are coming to the Apple Vision Pro, with, for example, the cooperative adventure game Demeo, which can be played from other devices, too. I said « slowly » as, from first-hand experience with our teams, many things must be adjusted to port a game from mobile to Vision Pro. Of course, the experience design, but also technically, as, for example, in Unity, many things that work on mobile or the Quest won’t work on the Vision Pro.
💻 Microsoft announced the release of AI-powered laptops, embedded with a dedicated NPU and OpenAI-based assistant, Copilot. The most controversial feature being « Recall », that will literally take screenshots of your computer at regular intervals and feed it into an AI you’ll be able to chat with about what you did.
🤖 AI-powered 3D object generation is getting better and better, and even more recently, with the merge of multiple AI technologies. Indeed, instead of ending the generation with a standard 3D model, the latest research tries to build a Gaussian Splatting representation, which leads to better results!
