Hi LinkedIn Network, Optus 3G network is switching off from 28 October 2024 and repurposing the technology to boost capacity, speed, and reliability of our 4G network alongside the roll out of 5G to even more Australians. Find below a link to our help and support page which contains details of how to check your device to see if it is impacted by the 3G shutdown. Scroll down to 'What do I need to do' and follow the steps. Equally important to check that the older and perhaps more vulnerable people in your life are aware of the change and have taken the required steps to upgrade their devices.
We will now start switching off our 3G network from 28 October 2024. This gives impacted customers more time to upgrade their device. If you have received an SMS, email, call, or letter from Optus, you still need to urgently get a new compatible device to stay connected. It’s not just 3G devices that will be impacted, some newer 4G and 5G devices may also be impacted. These devices will not be able to make calls to Triple Zero (000), so it’s important that you check your phone by texting 3 to 3498. For more information, including about connected devices, go to optus.com.au/3G for more details.
