The UK's #cruise industry experienced remarkable growth in 2023, surpassing pre #pandemic records in guest and call numbers across ports nationwide. #CruiseBritain reported a significant increase in guest numbers, with over 1.5 million passengers embarking on cruises from #UK ports, marking a 26% growth compared to the previous highest figure in 2018. Additionally, transit passengers enjoying a day ashore in the UK reached 2.16 million, a 24% increase from the record set in 2019. These visitors contributed approximately £150 million to Britain's #coastaleconomies, with a majority being non-UK nationals from key markets such as the US and Germany. Ian McQuade, Chair of Cruise Britain, highlighted the growing popularity of cruises around Britain, emphasising the industry's importance in the tourism landscape. The success story includes a doubling of call numbers and embarkations, along with a remarkable 500% increase in transit passengers since 2009. Cruise Britain continues to collaborate with #cruiselines, industry partners, #stakeholders, and the government to nurture the sector's resilience and profitability. "Delhi Airport Launches Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)" In a significant development aimed at enhancing the travel experience, Delhi International Airport has introduced the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). This initiative, the first of its kind in India, promises a streamlined and secure immigration process for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders. Key Highlights of the FTI-TTP: - Launch and Inauguration: The FTI-TTP was officially inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah on June 22 at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport. This pioneering initiative is designed to reduce congestion and expedite the immigration clearance process for pre-verified travellers. - Streamlined Process: Eligible travellers can bypass regular queues using e-gates, significantly minimizing human intervention. This innovation aims to enhance efficiency and reduce waiting times, making the travel experience smoother and more pleasant. - Eligibility and Application: To qualify for the FTI-TTP, applicants must ensure their passports are valid for at least six months. The application process is conveniently available online, and once registered, membership is valid for up to five years or until the passport expires. - Biometric Data Submission: A crucial component of the programme is the submission of biometric data, which can be completed at designated international airports or the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). - Future Expansion: The first phase of the FTI-TTP caters to Indian citizens and OCI cardholders. However, there are plans to extend this service to foreign travellers and other major airports across India, broadening the scope and benefits of this initiative. This progressive move by Delhi Airport sets a new standard in travel convenience and efficiency, marking a significant step forward in India’s aviation and immigration sectors. The FTI-TTP not only enhances the travel experience for eligible travellers but also positions Delhi Airport as a leader in adopting advanced technologies for passenger facilitation. To know more about this newly started programme and to apply for the FTI-TTP, visit the official Delhi Airport website or contact the nearest FRRO.
