8 'impressionist' expositions 1874 - 1886: In 2017 I started the quest for a historical reconstruction of the 8 'impressionist' expositions that were held in Paris from 1874 - 1886. In most sources on Impressionism you will only find some famous paintings of (about 10) well known partakers. But, in total there were 57 partakers. So, who were those unknown partakers? On my website www.impressionism.nl you will find pictures and information on all the partakers. (Sometimes scraping pieces of information and the limited amount of pictures together.) In total there were about 2053 art-works exhibited. On my website you will find colour pictures of the about 40% of the works that are (quite) certain to have been exhibited. But, you will also find suggestions for the other 60%, which will stay uncertain, but in this way you will receive a more complete impression of these 8 expositions, that changed the world of art. My website contains more than 400 pages and more than 5000 pictures and is still growing. On YouTube I have my own channel: "Enjoy.Impressionism". I like to recommand the video "8 'impressionist' expositions a quest for a historical recontruction": https://lnkd.in/edYZiwyU. In this video I tell more about my quest.

Is public display the new gallery? 🤔 Art is breaking free from gallery walls and spilling onto the streets! Medina Kasimova’s "Depths" lit up Times Square on a historic billboard, just as the .ART team explored the Armory Show—filled with stunning paintings and ceramics but lacking in digital art. The big question: can outdoor spaces like billboards challenge the traditional gallery model? In Times Square, art reaches millions—no tickets, no barriers, just bold, unfiltered access. 🎨 Meanwhile, the Armory Show keeps it classic: curated, controlled, and confined. Critics say displaying art in public diminishes its value, treating it as mere background noise instead of an experience to savor. The Armory Show, with its meticulously curated booths, stands by the belief that art deserves a dedicated, contemplative setting. But does sticking to these traditions limit new forms of expression and audience engagement? Outdoor art flips the script, bringing art from exclusive spaces into the public domain. It’s unfiltered, surprising, and accessible—a true gallery without walls where innovation and accessibility collide. 🎨💥 Can public art be more than just eye candy? Is it the future of exhibitions, or does it dilute the experience? Let’s rethink how, where, and for whom art should be seen. 🖼️ What’s your take? Is outdoor art the next frontier, or should galleries stay sacred? Drop your thoughts below! 👇 #ArmoryShow #PublicArt #DigitalArt

🎨 Art Collecting! 🌟 My Top Tips on how to start an art collection at any age and budget. I am frequently asked about beginning an art collection. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned enthusiast, these 5 insights will help shape your ideas around art collecting. 1. Fall in love with the artwork. Buy the work of art because you love it and it resonates with you, not because someone tells you that it's going to appreciate in value in 10 years (it will, but don't buy just on this fact alone). It will be hanging in your home or office for years to come. 2. Idea: Buy an artwork when you have a significant moment or occasion in your life. Buy artwork for your child. Like any hobby or investment, you will need to do your homework and your research. Visit art galleries, and museums, and make sure you talk with the staff, as they're knowledgeable. Make sure you sign up for the mailing list for monthly events. Art curators often host talks and events. For example, the Biennale of Sydney is coming in March. Subscribe to Art Collector magazine for knowledge. 3. Art Fairs Love to travel? National and International Art Fairs are a great way to delve deep into the art world. Singapore Art Fair has just finished up; Melbourne Art Foundation Art Fair is coming up next month! Art Basel Miami is a favorite. 4. Pick a medium and think about the narrative of your art collection. What are you immediately drawn to? Photography, drawing, painting, erotic art, botanics? Do you want to focus on young emerging artists under 35 years old? 5. Start with a budget that you spend every year. You can start with $500 or $50,000. My advice is to purchase one artwork every year if you are starting (art collecting does get addictive). Do this on your wedding anniversary or even your birthday. If you bought an artwork every year for the next 10 years, you would have a fabulous art collection and will most probably appreciate in value! And you would have the coolest places ever! Happy collecting! 🖼️✨ #ArtCollecting #ArtTips #ArtEnthusiast #ArtLovers #CollectingArt #ArtEducation My last tip is to Make sure you start a database with details on the artist, prices, and receipts for insurance purposes and also to think about the future of your art collection- will this be a gift to your children? Starting an art collection may seem intimidating and challenging at first, but it’s a rewarding journey that combines personal passion with the potential for long-term investment. Whether you’re drawn to contemporary works or classic styles, collecting art can transform your space and enrich your life. Here's a simple and easy-to-follow guide to help you take the first steps into the world of art collecting. 1. Understand What You Love Before you make any purchases, it’s essential to understand your personal taste. Visit galleries, attend art fairs, and browse online platforms to discover what resonates with you. Take note of styles, colors, and themes that stand out. The more you explore, the clearer your preferences will become. 2. Set a Budget Art doesn’t always come with a high price tag. You can start collecting with a modest budget, whether it’s a few hundred dollars or several thousand. Knowing your budget helps you focus on pieces that are within reach, whether they are original works or high-quality prints. Remember, you do not have to break the bank to buy an art. 3. Research the Artist Before investing in a piece, take the time to research the artist. Understanding the artist’s background, style, and medium can give insight into the value and future potential of their work. Learning about the artist also adds a personal connection to your collection. 4. Be Present at Exhibitions and Fairs Attending exhibitions and art fairs is an excellent way to discover new artists and observe current market trends. These events allow you to see artwork up close and meet the creators behind the pieces. It’s also an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the art world. 5. Seek Expert Advice If you’re unsure about where to start, don’t hesitate to seek guidance from gallery curators, art advisors, or experts. Many galleries offer consultations to help match you with artwork that fits your taste, budget, and space. Their insights can save you time and help you make more informed decisions. 6. Buy What You Love While art can be a great investment, the best advice for new collectors is to buy what you love. Choose pieces that speak and resonate well to you and that you’ll enjoy having in your space. Emotional connection should be a key factor in your decision-making process, alongside considerations of value and investment. Starting an art collection is about more than just acquiring pieces—it’s about creating a personal and meaningful collection that reflects your style and interests. As you take your first steps into the art world, remember that every collection begins with a single piece. Embrace the process, educate yourself, and most importantly, enjoy the art you bring into your life. If you’re ready to start your collection or have questions, feel free to reach out. Our gallery offers curated recommendations and expert advice for first-time collectors.

PIN-UP Magazine just published our interview to artist Antoni Miralda. His work has been instrumental in our own understanding of architecture as a choreography which channels, amplifies and hides existing social rituals, catering from the anatomical to the planetary. Miralda: "I have never been interested in style over creating a provocation, a happening. I have always been more interested in getting feedback and getting people on my side...My effort was rather focused on building conversational “platforms” to convince stakeholders and participants of my events. I have always been interested in getting different inputs through different collaborations because some of these things are not done with a one-man-band. That’s not the idea... Often what is more frustrating isn’t losing control, but the lack of belief or understanding in what we are doing." You can read the full interview in the following link: https://lnkd.in/dv85_MG8

Last week I visited Museo Tiflológico de la ONCE in Madrid. It is a museum designed for people who are blind or have low vision. Everything is labelled with braille. All items can be touched. There are audio guides. It is an impressive example of how to present an inclusive, accessible exhibition. The low lighting and focus on tactile experiences are helpful for people with different impairments and preferences to enjoy and learn about the items on display. Entry is free of charge. You can find more information about the museum by following this link: https://museo.once.es/ #inclusiveCommunication #accessibleCommunication #inclusiveArts Image description: 6 photos taken inside the museum. 1 - a sculpture of a jug pouring water. 2 - a painting of a man holding a guitar next to some jumbo-sized braille. 3 - a 3D relief map of the city of Toledo. 4 - the front cover of a brochure that says “Ciudad de Toledo - Recorrido Táctil”. 5 - the information sign in front of the map that says “Plano de Toledo. Escala: 1:2000” alongside a QR code, some braille, and an icon of headphones. 6 - a 3D model of the Colosseum.

Vietnamese Silk Painting - More than a national treasure 💚 🌟 I got to learn & practice silk painting by chance and have just recently emerged into art industry. A lot of my friends & acquaintances asked me on the interesting move. The truth is the decision at first was out of business intention. Vietnam, as commonly recognized in global art market, is for long time represented by renowned pioneering artists such as Nguyen Phan Chanh, Mai Trung Thu, Le Pho, Vu Cao Dam, etc. Medium-wise, compared to lacquer and oil painting, Vietnamese silk painting is a bit less popular due to its nature of fragility and insufficient awareness. So why silk painting? 🌟 Silk painting is an art form named based on the canvas material - silk. This waves the fluid lines of fabric that are delicately visible regardless of coloring. It reflects the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam & needs to be jointly preserved. 🌟 Vietnamese silk painting originated from the reign of the Ly Dynasty & Tran Dynasty. Modern silk painting is often credited to Artist Nguyen Phan Chanh as the pioneer to drive its popularity in the 1930s as well as its peak in aution value till now. 🌟 It takes due diligence to finish a silk painting, requiring both artistic and craftmanship skills. Harmony & balanced are key characteristics of silk painting despite the fact that more & more new artists have been injecting & experimenting contemporary techniques. If you want to learn more about one of our Vietnamese prides, take a glimpse at below video on "The Kén Silk Painting Exhibition 2023" which I was honored to participate in & co-hosted as one of the 13 artists in Hochiminh city, Vietnam. I also personally considered this as my "art graduation ceremony" with the accomplishment of 08 silk painting artworks. The new expertise surprisingly helped me a lot in innovation works in my core marketing career & opened up various new business opportunities such as painting commissions or art & design services. Not sure if this is a pure blessing or a childhood manifestation. But one thing I know for sure "miracles do happen" & you're destined to be where you should be if you have strong faith in yourself. 🌟 Keep believing in your heart & making your dreams come true. 🍀 Bet if I can become super rich someday with arts? 😛🙂 ✨ 🍀 #art #design #silk #painting #sidehustle #career #Vietnam #dream #miracles #theKen #exhibition

THE ART GENE Well, it is Caravaggio or not? Spain’s Prado Museum confirms rediscovery of lost Caravaggio, 'Ecco Homo' to be unveiled May 27 2024. (source: Associated Press) The painting was due to be auctioned in 2021, but was held back as it was suspected to be a Caravaggio. Now its authenticity has been confirmed by Spain’s Prado Museum it will go on display from May 27 until October in a one piece exhibition permitted by its anonymous owner. Once believed to have been part of the private collection of Phillip IV of Spain, it is attracting interest and much discussion - as to whether it truly appears to be created by the Italian master - and as there are only 55-60 works by Caravaggio in existence, it is set to become one of the most valuable old master artworks in the world, according to the Prado. Interesting enough in April 2021 Spanish authorities stopped the painting - then believed to have been painted by Ribera - from being auctioned and put an export ban on it after the museum alerted the government it could be a Caravaggio. The starting price at the ill fated auction? 1500 euros, whereas an original Caravaggio would be worth millions. The painting is not allowed to leave Spain without government permission. (These photographs show the restoration.)
