Greater Anglia-WK42- Stowmarket Station- AVA AFA Enabling Works Last weekend, Walker Construction UK Ltd, on behalf of Greater Anglia, successfully completed the installation of a temporary footbridge and the removal of the existing footbridge structure during a 52 hour possession. The works were carried out as part of the enabling works for the upcoming installation of the new AVA Bridge. As part of the preparations, TES 2000 Ltd carried out adjustments and the installation of new cabling to the Overhead Line Equipment (OHLE) in readiness for the future AVA Bridge and Lift System. The temporary bridge was designed and installed by Mitchell Bridges Limited. The installation was performed under a contract lift managed by Notus Contract Lifting Limited. Tru Demolition skillfully dismantled the existing bridge structure, with Bronzeshield Lifting Ltd providing the craneage support. Railway Electrical Services Ltd carried out the bonding and lighting installations for the temporary bridge, while Elmec (Southern) Limited undertook the temporary lighting for platform hoardings and other enabling works for the new bridge. Temporary works designs for the crane mats were provided Richard Jackson Limited. Rail Planning Services Limited were responsible for all safety-critical staff involved in the works. Despite the extremely cold weather conditions, the works were completed safely and on progamme, reflecting the hard work and collaboration of all those involved.
