AIIDEV Africa week fourDesign Thinking and Innovation Innovation is finding a solution to people’s problems to be able to solve people’s problem you have to have a high level of solving skills and be able to think in a logical manner that yield results Design thinking process has 5 processes which are Emphasize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test. EMPHASIZE : this stage involves the understanding the needs of people’s emotions and motivation of the people. It involves conducting interviews, observations, and other research methods to gain the insight into the users experience. Before creating a solution to people’s problem, you have to know the problem first and this done by conducting interviews with the people.DEFINE: At this stage the insight gathered during the empathize stage are synthesized to define the core problem to be addressed. It involves reframing the problem in a way that focuses on the user needs.  This means what ever information you get from the interview during the emphasize stage will be gathered to be able to know the solution. The best way to get customers to your business you need to make them anticipate for it this means for you to start advertising your business even before it launches, this will enable you to have more customers.Your business has to be the solution to root problems to people. IDEATE: at this stage it involves brainstorming of a wide range of possible solutions to the problem. Brainstorming ideals from others shouldn’t be judged cause No ideal is Stupid No Ideal at all is stupid. What ever ideal you think off should be let out don’t kelp it to your self, because that ideal can be the solution to people’s problem. Prototype: once an ideal has been identified during the Ideate phase they are translated into tangible representation known as the prototype. At the prototype phase after an ideal has been Identified you can use a friend or a family member problem to create a solution to them. Test: this is the final stage, at this stage the prototype are tested with real users people outside your comfort zone. You will gather feedback and insight. And this feedback is used to refine and improve the prototype, leading to a deeper understanding of the problem and potential solutions. When we started this project, we knew our technology would help level the playing field, allowing people not proficient in English to participate in the storytelling. Other than English, we received stories in Indonesian Bahasa, Mandarin, Hindi. Because participants were comfortable in their own languages, they were more willing to share. Upon seeing the stories, I realized how AI could beautifully capture the essence of these narratives. This competition values how well stories are told in their native languages, rather than the proficiency in English. Using AI to rate the stories according to rubrics meant that judges didn’t have to sift through over 200 stories. AI handled the initial filtering. Although there were differences between AI ratings and judges' evaluations, the top AI-rated stories generally fell within the judges' top picks too. This alignment underscores the effectiveness of AI in the initial screening process. However, the human judges were essential in identifying the emotional depth and subtle nuances that AI might miss. IIn summary, the integration of AI not only made the storytelling competition more inclusive and efficient but also demonstrated how technology and human judgment can complement each other in evaluating the true essence of storytelling.
