Excited to Share My Cinematic Show Reel for "Neutronize"! I'm thrilled to present the official cinematic show reel for my upcoming game, Neutronize, which I have had the incredible opportunity to direct and develop using Unreal Engine 5 (UE5). Color Theory and Visual Storytelling: In this reel, I delve into the power of color theory to evoke emotions and enhance narrative depth. Each main villain in Neutronize is introduced with a unique color palette that reflects their personality and role, utilizing dark, ominous shades to create a sense of dread. In contrast, the protagonists are bathed in warm, uplifting colors, symbolizing hope. The show reel showcases advanced cinematic techniques: Dynamic Framing: Utilizing UE5's capabilities, I employ dynamic framing to guide the viewer's attention, with sweeping camera movements and strategic close-ups. Lighting and Shadows: Expertly designed lighting setups add depth and realism, with dramatic shadows and well-placed highlights. Story-Driven Moments: Key story-driven moments focus on character interactions and emotional beats, offering a glimpse into Neutronize's rich narrative. This show reel is a testament to the potential of UE5 in creating captivating, immersive game worlds. Here is the first iteration of my adaptive ambiance system for #unreal5 using #metasounds. It's based on the same principles as my master's thesis on data sonification, but using physical materials instead of spatial data and also has a little function for setting reverb based on sound spawn gain level, for amplifying the pine forest feeling. Building these kinds of systems are very straightforward thank's to Epic Games UE development. The most time consuming thing for me was figuring out how the physical materials work. Next iterations I will: - Try it out with the #Soundscapes plugin instead of 2D Metasound systems - Figure out how to make it scalable and neat for different materials in different types of game levels - See how I can fit my adaptive reverb development into it A sphere trace is fired through an anim notify on every tenth player step. Data on number of individual physical materials, "items", is then weighed against an average highest possible number of items and normalized to a 0-1 float, controlling gain levels, EQ and sample spawn intensity in metasounds. I did record a quite thorough presentation of how it works, only to realize I really need to invest in a better voice microphone 😅. Curious?
