1: On July 23, 1952, an Egyptian nationalist military group called the "Free Officers," led by General Gamal Abdel Nasser, carried out a coup that overthrew Egyptian king, Farouk I. The coup brought an end to the Egyptian monarchy, and brought Gamal Abdel Nasser to power as Egypt's first president. In 1882, Britain began controlling the affairs of Egypt. In 1922, the Kingdom of Egypt was founded and granted sovereignty from Britain; but Britain still maintained substantial influence over Egypt. Thus, growing discontent against British influence in Egypt and some anger over Egypt and its allies' loss of the Arab-Israeli War of 1948 to Israel became some of the main causes of the coup of 1952. July 23 is celebrated as Revolution Day in Egypt. To distinguish the Revolution of 1952 that created the Republic of Egypt from the Revolution of 2011 that caused the deaths of dozens of Egyptians and led to the subsequent resignation of Egypt's longtime dictator, Hosni Mubarak, many Egyptians called the Revolution of 1952 the "First Revolution." Mubarak had served as president of Egypt from 1981 to 2011. Located in North Africa, Egypt is also one of the 21 countries in the Middle East, and one of the most historic countries in the world. Its capital is Cairo, its currency is the Egyptian pound, its current president is Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, it has one of the largest and most advanced militaries in Africa, and it's one of the most visited nations in Africa. #history #worldhistory #globalevents #africa #middleeast #egypt #britain #africanhistory #revolutionday

Lebanon is driven by a series of goals that will impact the entire region. We must become accustomed to the idea that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is interested in years of fighting, and disproportionate destruction across the Middle East. It has been almost a year since the start of the genocide in Gaza, where Israel’s razing of infrastructure echoes the destruction of cities during World War II. It has done so in blatant violation of international law, all while receiving overwhelming western support. I doubt that any other country, besides the US, could have accomplished all of this without paying a significant price. But this might be Israel’s only success in the current campaign, built upon the moral and legal failures of the West. On the ground in Gaza, Israel faces a tough dilemma that will shape the country: the hostage crisis, which has faded from public discourse amid the war on Lebanon. Israel’s political map is divided into two main camps on the war: a militaristic, right-wing camp that believes Israeli society must transform its culture from a western one to a combative one, as reflected by Brigadier General Barak Hiram, who, upon being appointed commander of the military’s Gaza division, criticised the “hedonistic” Israeli lifestyle. #worldwar #ww #history #war #military #wwii #germany #army #worldwartwo #memes #bhfyp #soldier #soldiers #tank #usa #worldwarii #photography #militaryhistory #meme #tanks #wehrmacht #warhistory #historyfacts #wwi #german #art #historymemes #love #panzer #greatwar

If you tell a lie big enough and often enough, people will come to accept it as the truth. So it is with "the Palestinians" and the "Palestinian State". It is a total fiction. There is one and only one reason for this repeated fiction. However, don't believe me. Take it directly from the mouth of another Arab. This is Example Number Two. “The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity … Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem.” Zuheir Mohsen - Head of PLO Military Operations - 1977.

The Ottoman Sultanate (1299-1922 as an empire; 1922-1924 as caliphate only), also referred to as the Ottoman Empire, written in Turkish as Osmanlı Devleti, was a Turkic imperial state that was conceived by and named after Osman (l. 1258-1326), an Anatolian chieftain. At its peak in the 16th and 17th centuries, the empire controlled vast stretches including Anatolia, southwestern Europe, mainland Greece, the Balkans, parts of northern Iraq, Azerbaijan, Syria, Palestine, parts of the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, and parts of the North African strip, in addition to the major Mediterranean islands of Rhodes, Cyprus, and Crete. Renowned the strongest military superpower of its time, the empire stagnated and faced prolonged decline from the late 16th century CE onwards until it was replaced by the modern Republic of Turkey after the First World War (1914-1918). #History #HistoryFacts #OttomanEmpire #OsmanI #MehmedII #WHE

The statement "Now is always the right time to right what's wrong" underscores the urgency and moral imperative for rectifying injustices. The change of political power structures is crucial in this context for several reasons: 1. **Accountability**: Political power structures, when changed, can hold previous regimes accountable for their actions. This ensures that any wrongs committed are addressed and serves as a deterrent for future misconduct. 2. **Representation**: A shift in power often leads to a more representative governance structure, ensuring that the voices of the marginalized or previously suppressed are heard and considered in policy-making. 3. **Policy Reversal**: New leadership has the capacity to reverse policies that may have been harmful or unjust, aligning laws and regulations with the principles of fairness and justice. 4. **Restoration of Rights**: Changing political power can lead to the restoration of rights that might have been eroded, ensuring that all citizens are treated equally under the law. 5. **Innovation**: Fresh perspectives in power can bring innovative solutions to longstanding problems, which is essential for societal progress and addressing systemic issues. In essence, the transformation of political power structures is a pivotal step towards societal betterment, allowing for the correction of past wrongs and the establishment of a more equitable and just society. It's a process that should be pursued with vigilance and a commitment to the principles of democracy and human rights.
Repost | Part Two of the Real Enemies of Palestine: King Abdullah II of Jordan. For too long has the will of the Jordanian people been ignored and secretly undermined through subterfuge and misinformation. Jordan has played a pivotal role in maintaining the occupation of Palestinians not only in material support through trade, but in diplomatic and military support. The list of wrongs perpetuated by the Jordanian government did not start with King Abdullah II, but extends through his entire bloodline and the kings before him, since before the inception of the illegitimate Zionist state. In fact, the role that the Arab kings played during the Arab revolts before the Nakba was pivotal in the loss of Palestine to Zionism in 1948. After Egypt, Jordan was the second Arab country to officially normalize relations and continues today to show that its true loyalty lies with Zionism, not the Palestinian cause, while the Jordanian people’s hearts belong to Palestine. That divide must be reconciled through clear demands and actions by the Jordanian people, and through it will the Jordanian people achieve their own collective liberation. #BreakTheSilence #CeaseFireNow #StopGazGenocide #FreePalestine

From the start of the war, many commentators have questioned whether Israel can beat Hamas. From a military perspective, Israel is likely capable of eradicating Hamas, which includes destroying the organization's ability to continue ruling over Gaza. But if you consider Hamas an ideology, this is more complicated and has consequences beyond its impact on Israel. The ideology of Hamas is bigger than Israel and even Hamas itself. The radical jihadist ideology that it's connected to is everywhere, from Europe to the United States. It has different names, like ISIS or Al-Qaeda, but it abides by the same principles: To destroy Western civilization and replace it with radical Islamic rule. If you want to imagine what it's like to live under such rule, you only have to look as far as Gaza, Iran, or Afghanistan. Israel is just the appetizer. It's the closest target and the easiest target, constantly under harassment by the UN. Israel is the tiny beacon of peace and freedom in a region plagued with jihadism. The fact that Israel still exists is testament to the ingenuity and resilience of its people, despite the immense suffering. What happens in the Middle East doesn't stay in the Middle East. If you think this is just Israel's fight, think again. #standwithisrael #middleeastconflict #resistance
