Last weekend Zofia Ludwig and friends took part in the Dorney Lake Triathlon for the second year running.... this time the sun even came out! With injuries threatening to wipe out the team, they persevered and Zofia even finished with her new personal best, managing to get a sub 1 hour finish time!!! What an absolute achievement and show of dedication from all! Showing that if you set your mind to something, even when things feel against you, you can push through and not only finish but do better than before! Well Done Team, we're super proud of you 💙🏆🏅💪🏊🚲🏃♀️👏

Picture this: You're in a race, but it's not just any race. You're up against a lion, a camel, a horse, a wolf, a cheetah, an ostrich, and a bear. Who's going to win? 🏅 Of course, you think the cheetah will take the crown, right? 🐆💨💨 But hold on... it's not that simple. 🤔. Let's make a realistic hypothesis. 🔹 The 100-meter sprint? No one can beat a cheetah. You might be the last one. 🔹 A cheetah can't beat a horse if it's a 5km race, but an ostrich can. 🏇🦩 🔹 A horse beats an ostrich in a half marathon; however, it loses to a camel in a full marathon. 🐫🏆 🔹 You might be last in most of the above races but will win if it is an ultra-marathon of 100 km. 🏅✨ It is the endurance levels, the race and the participants you compete with. That defines the winner. Learnings: (1) If you are losing, you might be at the start of a race. Keep running. (2) If you have run enough and not won, change the race. (3) Could you share your take? #StayTheCourse #LongGameSuccess #KeepGoing #VictoryInPatience #LifeLessons #SuccessMindset #RunYourRace #ResilienceWins #PersonalGrowth #NeverGiveUp #Inspiration

But As elite athletes share increasingly more granular data about their training, how much of your company’s strategy and performance would you share with competitors (anti-collusion laws notwithstanding) or peers in other industries? Where do you draw the line between sharing best practices and ensuring the competitive advantage provided by secrecy and the surprise element is not eroded? As someone who often had to get clients under one roof to discuss such matters, and to draw the agenda, let me share this with you: I was never criticised for encouraging too much sharing. I was often criticised for not enabling more. (Oh, and you’ll find all my stats on Strava. The heart rate ones may not be accurate, but you’ll find them. I won’t provide a link. As with LinkedIn, there’s only one Giacomo Squintani. 😆)

Still haven't got my head around the performance of Jack Scott who won the 2024 Spine Race yesterday. For my fellow endurance sport nerds, you may be familiar with this race and just how good Jack's performance was. For those of you who aren't, let me summarise. It's "Britain's most brutal endurance race" and the Race Director said it's "almost perfect in its cruelty". Quite the sales pitch, right?! · It's 268 miles long (430ish KM). · It takes in landmarks like the Penines and Hadrian's Wall and is +12,000m of vertical climbing (roughly 1 and a half climbs of Everest). · You run many of the tough sections at night. Temps got as low as -20 deg on the Penines this year. Whilst you were in bed with the electric blanket on, they were yomping around some of the hardest terrain in the UK, yamming down kilos of Kendal Mint Cake. · You run continuously from Sunday morning to the finish. The elites "hope" to finish by tea time on Wednesday (c50% of people DNF/ drop out). Non-elites could be running until the following weekend. · You have to get down 30,000+ calories on the move and you’ll only kip when the delirium kicks in. Jack finished in just under 73 hours, but only slept for 55 minutes for his winning performance. Something also overlooked is that you have to self-navigate. When you're hallucinating from exhaustion, that's pretty wild in itself… You have to be astounded at what these guys do. Towing the line between insanity and seeing what the human body/ mind is capable of. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be getting off my ass to train tonight, because training in Jan can’t be that bad can it? https://lnkd.in/dke38Huq

### The 2024 Finn European Championship: High Stakes as Fleet Split Looms As the 2024 Finn European Championship heads into its fifth and sixth races, the competition is heating up with the crucial fleet split on the horizon. After six races, the fleet will divide into **Gold** and **Silver** fleets, with the top sailors in the Gold Fleet battling for the title. With the discard rule allowing each sailor to drop their worst result after Race 5, these next two races are pivotal for the overall standings. Italy’s **Alessandro Marega** leads the fleet with just 7 points after four races, having showcased remarkable consistency. His strategy will focus on staying steady, securing top-5 finishes to ensure he remains at the top. However, France’s **Laurent Haÿ** (9 points) and **Valérian Lebrun** (11 points) are in hot pursuit. The French duo must push hard in the next two races to close the gap and pressure Marega, knowing that after Race 5, they can discard any poor results. In fourth place with 15 points, **Nick Craig** from Great Britain will rely on his tactical experience. With the discard rule in mind, Craig will likely aim for safe finishes in Race 5 before taking more risks in Race 6 to climb up the leaderboard. The mid-fleet battle is intense, with **Filipe Silva** (18 points), **Christoph Burger** (21 points), and **Kristóf Kaiser** (21 points) fighting for spots in the top five. All sailors are balancing the need for consistent results with the pressure of qualifying for the Gold Fleet. As the fleet split approaches, every decision counts. The next two races will determine who stays in the hunt for the title and who gets left behind in the Silver Fleet. --- **Source: High-Performance Regatta Analyser GPT** Well done Christoph Burger!

As the Tour de France 🇫🇷🚴 draws to a close this year, it's been a race full of unforgettable moments. Some highlights for me include: 🥇 Romain Bardet winning stage 1 and donning this year’s first yellow jersey 🚴♂️ Mark Cavendish achieving his record-breaking 35th stage win 😢 Victor Campenaerts’ emotional stage winner’s interview 🔥 Jonas Vingegaard outsprinting Tadej Pogačar 🌟 Remco Evenepoel proving his worth as a strong contender However, there’s one story that deserves more attention is that of Uno-X Mobility rider Jonas Abrahamsen. In a weight-obsessed sport, Abrahamsen took an unconventional path. Once weighing just 60kg, he struggled to perform at his best. However, upon securing a two-year contract with Uno-X, he embarked on a plan to gain weight gradually, reaching around 80kg. The remarkable fact about this transformation is that it allowed him to increase his peak power from 900 watts to 1,500 watts, making him a more versatile and powerful rider. His improved performance led to leading the Tour de Pologne for two days and achieving a career-best bronze in the Norwegian road race championships. And while all of this could be deemed old news, it’s only thanks to Abrahamsen constant presence at the front of the peloton during the first week of the tour, not looking like a super featherweight that most spectators believe the wearer of polka dot jersey should be. So what does this mean for the rest of us? Hopefully it's finally time to dispel the myth that you can only eat brown rice, grilled chicken and broccoli in measured amounts - and enjoy that mid-ride slice of cake knowing you’re not doing any serious harm to your power.
