Law is a world of its own and requires specialized tools. Listen to the latest episode of The Fifth Court for an in-depth discussion on #AI and the legal sector with our CEO & CO-Founder Leif-Nissen Lundbæk, PhD and hosts Peter Leonard and Mark Tottenham. 📢 Here are the key takeaways: ☑ Some old principles still apply, like “garbage in, garbage out. “The data out there is pretty bad. Things like ChatGPT and so on are trained on Internet data - and Internet data is terrible. That’s why having specialized training data for #LegalAI is so important. ☑ AI is already changing the legal sector: “Regulation is increasing, so there will be more work. But the cost for word may shrink... What remains is the human factor, and that will become more important. It’s trust.” ☑ Lawyers will have to adapt and add to their skill sets, and how to work with and check AI will be key. Listen to the full podcast interview. Xayn 🔮 https://lnkd.in/eYgyP_X9

To the co-chairs of the USPTO’s AI working group, the two main currencies of the IP ecosystem are creativity and trust. Where does trust in the USPTO come from? Its tens of thousands of experts, who apply judgment and discretion across domains and nuances each and every day. That’s why Jerry Ma and Charles Kim take a human-first approach to AI at the agency as it expands its internal use of AI from prior search to knowledge management and beyond. Figuring out how to empower their people to fulfill their roles with more clarity and information while leaving them “firmly in the driver’s seat” is their North Star. To implement that vision, they rely on: - A diverse, interdisciplinary team that sees the necessity of collaboration and freely shares their expertise - That team’s willingness to go above and beyond their day jobs and develop and grow outside their comfort zones - Buy-in and support from all levels, including senior leadership - A firm understanding of the current state of AI technology and where it’s going - Engagement and input from stakeholders As more and more IP teams are beginning to look at AI, the USPTO’s AI efforts serve as a powerful guide. Listen to our latest episode for more insight on AI adoption for IP, and on the USPTO’s guidance on AI-based inventions. 4 years ago, I thought automation in law was just about speed and efficiency. I was wrong. The real power of automation? Giving lawyers back the time to be human. Martin Kravchenko was a recent guest on the podcast, and he and I are totally in sync on this: 1️⃣ Empathy-driven service: When we automate routine tasks, we free up time to truly listen to our clients and provide the emotional support they need. 2️⃣ AI as a partner: In the coming decade, AI will likely draft many contracts and agreements. But clients will still crave human connection and understanding. 3️⃣ Five-star experiences: The difference between a satisfied client and a raving fan often comes down to the care and attention we provide. Automation enables this level of service. 4️⃣ Focus on what matters: By offloading administrative tasks, we can concentrate on complex problem-solving and strategic thinking that truly adds value. The future of law isn't about replacing humans with machines. It's about using technology to enhance our most human qualities - empathy, creativity, and critical thinking. What's your take? How has automation changed your approach to client service? 🎧 Dive deeper into this topic on our latest Automated Lawyer Podcast episode: https://automatedlawyer.co 🎥 Watch the full video discussion here: https://lnkd.in/gWhFPzRd #LegalTech #ClientService #FutureOfLaw

Can Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) serve as a leverage in building a scalable, self-sustaining business? In a recent conversation on The Business Philosopher Within You Podcast 🎧, I explored this question with Chris Bennett, the trailblazer behind TIL® Technology-Innovation-Law LLC. We touched upon several themes: - Recognizing and leveraging a company's most vital asset.
