We’re proud to announce the continuation of our collegiate athlete program with our 2024 partners D.J. Wagner (University of Kentucky) and Tyrese Proctor (Duke University)—and introduce our first female collegiate basketball partners, The Ohio State University players Jacy Sheldon and Kaia Henderson. Completed our first Young Alumni Panel for Athletics tonight! I’ve always admired the impact that alumni can have on current student-athletes. We are so thankful for our alumni who shared their experiences & how athletics helped prepare them for their current careers! Some gems from our alumni: - The biggest resource for you to manage isn’t going to be money, it’s going to be your time. - Learn to say no. - Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. - Bet on yourself.

This will be interesting to see how it plays out 10 years from now.
John Carroll University's momentum continues with a new era for athletics: The Blue Streaks will join the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) in Fall 2025. “At John Carroll, students can pursue excellence in the classroom and on the playing field without sacrificing one for the other,” said Director of Athletics Brian Polian ‘97. “We work everyday to attract the type of student who wants an exceptional Jesuit education and who wants to compete at the highest level of Division III athletics. We believe that joining the NCAC aligns John Carroll with peer institutions that share a common mission and that attract students from across the country.” Read more at https://lnkd.in/gcNkKSXv

College realignment is not done yet! Rumors are swirling that the Big 12 has resumed conversations to welcome Gonzaga as a basketball only member. In light of this news, we took a look at the Bulldog’s potential impact: 🏀 Over the past two seasons, Gonzaga basketball games averaged over 1.4M viewers, totaled over 7B viewing minutes, and generated over $290M in broadcast value. 🏀 Gonzaga’s viewership and broadcast value would have ranked 2nd in the Big 12 (behind only Kansas) during this time period. 🏀 Gonzaga also generated significant value across its social media platforms; once again ranking 2nd in the conference over the past two seasons. Gonzaga would clearly add significant value to the Big 12, which is already making a strong case as the nation’s best college basketball conference.

Home visits can be intimidating and awkward if you don’t have a plan. But, they can be VERY effective when you have a plan. Check out these strategies from Dan Tudor that have been working for the college coaches that are still doing home visits with success.

⚖️ Up next in the State of College Sports series with 50 of the most impactful leaders across #collegiateathletics is a discussion about the effort to secure federal legislation in reforming the industry. Steve Hank, Affinaquest EVP for Collegiate Athletics, joined the conversation, sharing his concerns about competitive balance when various states have unique laws, allowing student-athletes in different states to follow different policies. "What federal legislation would do is really provide a framework that the states can't mess with." Read more from these #collegesports leaders here: https://lnkd.in/eY3dx-wV .

Big news with a big takeaway. The "greats" are called great for a reason. Aspire to reach (and excede) the same heights. But in just about all professions, the greats won't always be in play, so to speak. They will step down, retire, or reposition, creating a vacuum in your industry. Are you ready to step in? Make decisions today that put you in line to be one of the next "greats" of your trade.

Urban Meyer, a coach I respect, was talking about the state of college football, discussing the new "flexibility" with players transferring, and coach Deion Sander's imminent domain at CU. He called it a "grand experiment." My question is: can we really reverse this trend and go back to the way it was if it doesn't work out? Or will the blow-back to reversal be so intense we can’t go back? Then what will differentiate college football from pro-football? Maybe we should change the designation from college football to pre-pro football. 😄 The Colorado Buffalos in the Pre-pro League.
