Stress at work is a hot topic that’s constantly being discussed. Everybody knows those hectic days when we’re just trying to keep up with our to-do lists. We should take precautions for such times and already have strategies at hand to help us keep our stress levels at a tolerable level. That’s why our recent Health Boost Day was all about "Stress Management." Open to all employees, the day featured a presentation to explain the origins of stress and its potential consequences. Along with some practical exercises, we gained valuable tips on how to counteract stress before it gets overwhelming. A standout technique we learned - and one we are sure many of us will be using - is the "relaxing break." We had the chance to enjoy one of these right after, a meditation session designed to restore balance and calm in the midst of stressful times. A big thank you to our HR department for organizing this and, of course, to our two guests, Sara Barisic and Marina Firnhaber, for their insightful contributions, helping us face new challenges with a little more peace of mind and a lot less stress! 😊 #EXTEDO #HealthBoostDay

April is Stress Awareness Month and we want to share some ideas for managing stress in the workplace. Stress in the work environment is more common than people might think, with 79% of people reporting they feel frequently stressed at work, and 76% of employees saying they felt moderate to high or high levels of stress in the workplace (according to Champion Health). It can be hard to know how to deal with stress, and everyone is receptive to different methods. However, while at work there are a few ways to help you to reset and find moments of calm: 1. Time - Take some time away from the pressure of work, small breaks can help reduce feeling overwhelmed. 2. Talk to someone - a colleague, a family member, a friend or even a helpline. If your feelings of stress are too overwhelming that you can no longer cope it is crucial to get help and remember you are not alone. 3. Meditation or guided breathing - Breathing exercise or meditation are known to help stress and relax your mind and body. Deep breathing lowers your heart rate and helps your stress levels drop. We love our on-site yoga and pilates sessions to help bring us back to centre. 4. Fresh air - Leaving the office, getting away from your laptop and phone can help relieve workplace stress. It helps to remove you from the environment in which you're finding stress, and allows you to focus on yourself.
