The Army is exploring the application of as-a-service models to edge computing, following successful pilot efforts for SATCOM-as-a-managed-service and the initiation of a radio-as-a-service pilot. These models offer flexibility, cost-efficiency, and rapid deployment capabilities. Mark Kitz, program executive officer for command, control, and communications-tactical, highlighted the potential of compute-as-a-service, aiming for the best, fastest, and smallest compute solutions by 2025-2026. The Army seeks to balance on-demand and organic capabilities, learning from pilots to optimize industry partnerships and scalability. The SATCOM pilot has shown promise, while radio-as-a-service presents unique challenges due to the military-specific requirements. #army #technology #edgecomputing #asaservice #satcom #radioasaservice #innovation #militarytech #defense #industrypartnerships Source- https://lnkd.in/g2zqkHbB

Senop LILLY target acquisition device has gone through plenty of remarkable updates to keep up with the high requirements of professional end-users: LILLY has smart energy management and efficient power consumption as well as added satellite navigation and wireless communication systems which make it a powerful situational awareness sensor on the field. An updated LRF with an extended range exceeds up to 20 km. New software enables laying a mortar section without an aiming circle or other measuring devices. If GNSS is not available, LILLY can be used to determine its own location from known coordinate points and even call for fire directly from mortar and artillery units. The Senop LILLY uses a new DMC module, which has been heavily tested in the harsh northern conditions. The proliferation of capabilities in space among our main adversaries is becoming increasingly concerning. Space is becoming an increasingly contested domain and decision advantage and freedom to maneuvre is not something western militaries can take for granted.
