The school year is fast approaching, and that means getting all the necessary check-ups for your child before the first day of school. While it's common for your child's pediatrician to check their vision during their health screening, an eye care provider specializes in caring for your child's eyes with the proper diagnostic tools and assessments. Since learning is 80% visual, your child's annual eye exam can help get ahead of any vision issues like myopia that may be developing. Schedule your child's eye exam today with an EyeMed Provider ➡ find a location near you: https://lnkd.in/gc5AD5cE

If you know me, you know that I love working with medical residents. Yesterday I had the pleasure of facilitating an improv workshop with the pediatric residents at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. What a fun group! They gave it their all and had a great time doing it. Improv is such an effective tool to teach emotional intelligence, teamwork, communication and mental flexibility. You can see that it’s not your typical workshop. #medicalimprov #experientialimprov #improv #improvtraining #worplacewellness #workplacewellbeing #reducingburnout #physicianwellbeing #healthcareadministration #healthcareburnoutprevention #emotionalintelligence #healthyworkplace

The key to any good concussion recovery plan, and often the most overlooked step, is education! Providing a basic understanding of the injury and giving patients, and their support team, a chance to ask questions is vital to understand the totality of the injury. From identification, to concussion phenotypes, expected outcomes to treatment plans, a proper concussion treatment plan starts with (and stays a vital component throughout recovery) education. #Concussion #ConcussionRehab #ConcussionEducation #ConcussionAwareness #ConcussionClinic #ConcussionRecovery #MWConcussion

Please watch this video that highlights the historical pioneers of EMS!
Division Director | Doctoral Student at JHSPH | Bloomberg American Health Initiative Fellow | Life Preserves LLC Founder
So excited to share this video to wrap up EMS week. As I spoke with John Moon at an event last week his message of care for the community by the community and bringing care to people where they are really stuck me as a wonderful public health message not only for how we care for the health of the community we serve but also how we as a community care for our own health. We have lost too many EMS clinicians to violence, injury, cardiac and mental health struggles. It is time as a community we do better caring for our community of EMS clinicians and potentially take some important lessons from the pioneers at Freedom House Ambulance Service. Thank you to all those pioneers who made it possible for me to be a public health educated paramedic and do this work! Link: https://lnkd.in/eAV7txKH

One of the challenges we often hear from our young patients of childbearing age, who opt for a hysterectomy to address the years of suffering caused by fibroids or endometriosis, is the pressure from physicians to sway their decision or recommend procedures that don’t align with their important personal choices or future family planning wishes. Consider the case of K, a woman in her early 30s who has dealt with chronic pain for years due to endometriosis. Her experience highlights a narrative we frequently encounter: patients feeling unseen and unheard in their healthcare journey. It also underscores the crucial importance of active listening in patient care. At CIGC, we deeply value this aspect, ensuring that our approach is not just about offering procedures, but about thoroughly understanding and aligning with our patients' wishes and needs. We strive to ensure that every voice is heard, and every treatment plan is created with individual care and respect. Your health, your choice – that's our promise to you. 💙
