News: ‘Rise in food orders to workplaces correlates with return to office increase’ There has been “a significant rise in desk orders to a continued trend towards healthier lunchtime food options”, states a report. It highlights the continued increase in workplace dining. The figures, which measured activity from January to July, show that office workers are increasingly opting for the convenience of using tech-driven solutions to order lunch at their offices. Orders on the Just Eat for Business platform (which compiled the report) have seen a substantial rise of 25% compared with the first half of the year in 2023, highlighting the growing trend of in-office food deliveries for lunchtime dining. During my time so far with Foodles I have been fortunate enough to spend time working with facilities and workplace managers, from a variety of locations and sectors, but all bound by a universal objective of catering to the needs of the modern flexible workforce. For the majority of businesses, hybrid working is not going anywhere - companies need to provide a degree of flexibility in their work patterns to attract and retain the top talent, however employers also need to consider their working environments and facilities to do so too. Catering is at the forefront of many businesses minds, with budgets tight and working patterns fluctuating. The workplace managers I am working with are looking, more than ever, about how they can provide an exciting, yet flexible catering service but without breaking the bank. Many companies are finding the traditional canteens no longer do that, with limited options and opening hours, fully staffed catering set-ups rarely cater to the needs of the ‘modern hybrid worker’. Yet at the same time they find that despite the 24/7 availability, traditional vending simply doesn’t allow staff to get the variety and quality of products they require. Foodles aims to take the best part of both concepts, generating a hassle free solution for office and facilities professionals to give their staff access to fresh, chef prepared food right around the clock.
