According to NASA “After the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024, the next total solar eclipse that can be seen from the contiguous United States will be on Aug. 23, 2044. We can't normally see the corona – the Sun's outer atmosphere – because the Sun's surface below it is so much brighter.” Watch this PBS video on where and when you can view this once in a generation natural event. https://lnkd.in/gCnFePEE

@NASA live coverage replay: "Bats and nocturnal animals are coming out.. AMAZING coverage -- Venus and Jupiter can be seen too. Devil Comet, Diamond Ring And Rare Visual Effects. Scientists also suggest wearing red or green while watching the eclipse to take advantage of a phenomenon called the Purkinje Effect, which makes shades of blue and green pop in contrast to darker hues of red—an effect that typically takes half an hour as day fades to night that will happen in a matter of seconds during the eclipse. Devil Comet: Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, the so-called devil comet, could also become visible during the solar eclipse as the midday sun fades to black, providing a rare astronomical possibility to see a comet during the day, when comets typically are not visible to the naked eye. Double Diamond Ring: In the seconds before totality—the total eclipse of the sun—scientists also believe stargazers will be able to catch a glimpse of a double-diamond ring, when two slivers of the moon-covered sun suddenly appear to flash before becoming completely blacked out. NASA Rocket Launch: In an attempt to study the effects of an eclipse on the Earth’s atmosphere, NASA is slated to launch three rockets between 2:40 p.m. and 4:05 p.m. ET. https://plus.nasa.gov/
