The worst EB-1A criterion...
Membership in organizations that require outstanding achievement.
Avoid it if you can!
Focus on the other criteria.
You can win EB-1A without it.
And you'll avoid an almost certain fight over it with USCIS (cough, cough, RFE).
Why is it the worst?
It is deceptively simple.
Membership in organizations...
Sounds easy enough.
Not so fast.
The second part is where USCIS gets you.
The membership must require "outstanding achievement."
What does that mean?
Who knows really?
But USCIS says it requires 3 main things:
1) specific criteria for who qualifies
2) that specific criteria shows the person has achieved "outstanding achievement"
3) experts are the people who decide who qualifies and who does not
USCIS has said that an IEEE Fellow is an example of someone who might qualify under this criterion.
Anything lower is likely to face a challenge.
Orgs giving out skills-based certifications = not enough.
Orgs requiring a specific amount of experience = not enough.
I said it once and I will say it again...
Focus on the other criteria.
This one is not easy to win.
You will likely face an RFE about it.
And you can definitely win EB-1A without it.
