As Corina Moore states, the Ontario Line subway represents a generational improvement to the transit network in Toronto, expanding and strengthening connections to subway, rail and bus systems. Port of Long Beach Revs Up for “Year of Rail” in 2024: Modernization, Sustainability in Focus Long Beach, CA: The Port of Long Beach is chugging into the "Year of Rail" in 2024, with a focus on modernizing facilities, boosting air quality, and ultimately becoming the world's first zero-emissions seaport. CEO Mario Cordero laid out the ambitious plan in his State of the Port Address, highlighting the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility as the centerpiece. This state-of-the-art terminal, set for construction this year, will double Pier B's rail yard size, triple on-dock rail capacity, and move freight faster and cleaner. "It is not just about operational efficiency", Cordero emphasized. "By 2030, we'll be a zero-emission port, a model for sustainability."

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary, London Gateway is set to unveil its new fourth berth this summer. This £350 million project increases port capacity by a third and introduces the world’s first all-electric berth with cutting-edge technology. This advancement is a significant step towards DP World's sustainability goals, aiming for full electrification by 2050. The new berth will enhance trade efficiency, economic growth, and sustainability. Complementary initiatives like the Modal Shift Programme (MSP) at DP World Southampton, which has significantly reduced carbon emissions, highlight DP World's commitment to sustainable logistics. With zero emissions, a 100% electrified network and wide body #trains that meet RVAAC standards, #highspeed rail can help the country move at 220mph to a more #sustainable transportation system. Doing so while spurring economic development and broadening labor markets at every city along the route, high- speed rail creates jobs, including high skilled manufacturing jobs. The market creation will expand the #rail industry, an industry on which our country has been built for the past 150 years and has continued to keep our nation moving. This is a key milestone in the massive Kuststad 2025 urban development project, which will include 7,000 new homes. The eastern port entrance and evacuation road are not only crucial for the completion of the ring road around Trelleborg but also a key factor in increasing intermodal transport and supporting larger infrastructure projects in the region. Trelleborg's Port is leading the charge in collaboration with Trafikverket and the EU's Green FIT project, enhancing the shift from road to rail transport and boosting sustainable logistics.
