Has Formula 1 lost its mojo? The demand for F1's Las Vegas Grand Prix needs to increase. Despite some sites preparing for "Super Bowl-level expectations," ticket prices and hotel room rates have decreased, indicating a lack of enthusiasm for the event. According to ticket reseller TickPick, fans can now purchase tickets for the main event on Saturday for $807, down from $1,645. Bloomberg cites several reasons for this loss of momentum, including the fact that #Vegas is not Monaco and the dominance of one driver leading to a lack of suspense. Lastly, TV audiences for #F1 races have decreased by 8% from the previous year. #f12023 #formula1 #lasvegas #lasvegasgrandprix #granprix #F1LasVegas #luxury

Monaco remains the crown jewel. The atmosphere is unmatched for good reason. History and legacy play a role. So many great champions have demonstrated nerves and skill here. You can't help but feel it. The Automobile Club de Monaco have also done an excellent job at improving and modernizing their facilities. It's always going to be cramped, but that's part of the exclusive charm. The new FOM camera angles are excellent. Still a bit strange to see all the standard F1 sponsors in place of #Monaco's quirky mix of local and global brands. I do think it's time they paid more than they have, though just like Ferrari, having Monaco on the calendar is the same as an appearance fee in any other major tournament. Could they improve the race and the circuit? Sure. The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) could require the teams to use only the two softest compounds over the weekend. No point in making it a strategy race if you don't create a real and exciting opportunity to pass. Move the DRS zone. The current DRS zone is mostly useless. Make the tunnel a DRS zone and change the Nouvelle Chicane to a left-right jog and you'd have an excellent spot for overtakes without slamming on the brakes as is now the case. These two adjustments would greatly heighten the tension and provide some real excitement without requiring the Principality to spend big money on changes to the "track". One last thing: bring back the 4 day event. Monaco is an excellent opportunity to capitalize on marketing opportunities. The teams have many more sponsors who need to engage and activate fans at the circuit and online. The extra day always provides everyone involved an extra day to create and maximize the value of such an extraordinary place. Long may she reign! #F1 #FIA #MonacoGP #MonacoCircuit

Ronaldo to Al-Nassr, Messi to Inter Miami, Hamilton to Ferrari. Yes there are obvious performance related decisions being made here and in Ferrari's case, the expectation that Hamilton will drag their team back to their first constructors championship in 16 years. However, performance aside, this is a seismic move for fans (of both Ferrari, Mercedes and Hamilton), for incumbent and prospective sponsors of both teams, and most significantly, for Ferrari's sponsorship revenues. As we continue to emphasise at Turnstile, an assets Intellectual Property value is directly linked to the size of its fan base. Increase your fan base size and you increase the number of engaged fans that a sponsor can reach to further promote their product /service. Increase the number of engaged fans that a partner can reach and you increase the rate brands are willing to spend to access these rights. --- Ahead of the Formula 1 season opener, we have analysed Hamilton's move to Scuderia Ferrari next season and the impact on the team's IP value. #sportsbiz #formula1 #sponsorship

For the first time in 41 years, Formula One returns to Las Vegas for the penultimate Grand Prix of the season. … Sounds exciting, right? … Well… For the 1981 and 1982 seasons, Formula One visited Las Vegas and the race was situated in the parking lot of Caesars Palace Hotel and Casino. Whilst everything sounded great about the race there were several problems with this: The temporary track surface offered little grip for the drivers. The 14 corners of the makeshift circuit were… Well… Boring… The intense Nevada heat caused significant tyre issues. Grandstands were rudimental at best for spectators. Photographers and Journalists experienced issues trying to do their jobs. Lack of reference points for drivers as the whole course was surrounded by concrete walls. A totally flat circuit, no elevation at all. This season’s event is due to take place around the Las Vegas Strip on a brand-new street track which should address a few of the issues that arose from the first visit 41 years ago. With a dominant Max Verstappen making the result an almost foregone conclusion there is a growing desire for races to start becoming more competitive (Though, from second place below the season is a very entertaining one, I believe) … Will Las Vegas have the right mix to make the 1,100th round of the Formula One World Championship a memorable one? Great insight from Joe Pompliano: "Formula 1's growth under Liberty Media will be studied for decades" Formula 1 Annual Revenue • 2017: $1.8 billion • 2023: $3.2 billion (+78% since 2017) Average F1 U.S. Per-Race Viewership • 2017: 538,000 • 2023: 1.11 million (+106% since 2017) Formula 1 Enterprise Value • 2017: $8 billion • 2023: $16 billion (+100% since 2017) And now Liberty Media is looking to replicate that success, acquiring the world's top motorcycling racing series, MotoGP, for $4.5 billion. Will it follow the same trajectory?
