🔍 Searching for the perfect candidate? Building the right team takes thoughtful planning. Here are 3 steps founders should take before jumping into the hiring process. 1. Look beyond today’s needs. Map out what success looks like for your new hire 6-18 months down the road. 2. Don’t create a role in a vacuum. Be sure to factor in team dynamics and team members’ responses to the new role. 3. Consult experts. If you’re hiring for a position you’re not familiar with, leverage your network to help identify what to look for and how to set your new hire up for success. Next47’s Director of Talent, Vanessa Camozzi, guides founders through the prep work needed to launch a successful recruiting motion in her latest article. 🤝 Find the full hiring breakdown here: https://bit.ly/49i81XO

Hiring is one of the most important things a start-up will do—arguably the most important. Building an A-star team— the people who will shape your company’s DNA—is crucial for driving growth, securing investment, and achieving success. So, what’s the second most important thing? Choosing the right recruitment partner. Every choice counts in £'s spent. So... choose wisely! Find an agency that truly gets you, understands your challenges, and knows what you need. A partner who takes the time to create a tailored proposal and implement a Statement of Work (SOW) to align on deliverables and timelines. Look for one that combines experience with agility, and perhaps most importantly, is generous with their network—investing in your success beyond just hiring. If your recruitment partner doesn’t fit this bill, it might be time to rethink. Whether you’re hiring, planning to, or just need some advice, get in touch: Samantha.Brown@propellondon.com

I've personally helped 1,200+ startups recruit top talent. Here's what candidates care about: 1) Interview process: What the next steps are, the hiring timeline, and how many people you're hiring for the role. 2) Company: What is the team's culture, growth trajectory, and runway? 3) Role Basics: Who am I reporting to, what are my day-to-day responsibilities, and what are the growth opportunities? 4) Work location, compensation, and benefits: Can I work remote, what is the base compensation, and do you offer equity? 5) Engineering: What is the tech stack, product development process, and code review process? 6) Sales: Are sales primarily inbound or outbound, who is my target customer, and what is my quota/expectations? 7) Product: What part of the product would I be owning, what is the planning process, and what does the product roadmap look like? 8) Marketing: What's my budget, what type of campaigns will be produced, and would this role be focused more on platforms or agencies? 9) Operations: What processes need to be scaled up, is there product oversight for scaling, and what is the company's process for setting OKR's? 10) Design: What is your biggest design challenge, will the role focus on platform or user interface, and what is the team's design process? 11) Human Resources: What is your HR tech stack, will I be able to work in employee engagement, and what is your employee Net Promoter Score? If you're able to answer these, then you're off to a very good start. For a full list of candidate interview questions, check out our blog post here: https://lnkd.in/eHhJh3c9
