Honestly, let's talk about this! 🔊 In my last weeks at Yoni, I've learned so much about menstruation and our bodies. Yet, there's still so much we don't know, surrounded by stigmas and often wrapped in whispers and secrecy. Therefore, I want to share: - 27% of people menstruating in Amsterdam experience period poverty. - The use of gendered language around menstruation can be harmful and exclusionary, such as referring to menstrual products as 'women's hygiene products'. - The expectation for individuals to maintain consistent performance in work or educational settings, without considering the menstrual cycle, places menstruators at a disadvantage. These insights are not my own, but from very inspiring humans that I had the pleasure to work with for our newly launched campaign - making menstruation more inclusive. Big thanks to Maria Carmen Punzi, Nanoah Struik and Shadi Nikshomar for initiating this important conversation. Is your workplace truly inclusive when it comes to menstruation?    This year’s theme for International Women's Day is #inspireinclusion. At Yoni we celebrate women and menstruators every day, and all the beautiful diversity that it includes. Menstrual inclusivity means taking all bodies that menstruate into consideration, and the way they experience it. It also means including menstrual health when we talk about work, politics, society, and much more. From the physical, to the emotional, to the political – menstruation affects all of us in different ways.     So, this month we’re passing the mic to three inspirational individuals working in different ways to make menstruation more inclusive. Over the month of March - because one day is not enough - we will be sharing their stories with you. Want to get a head start? You can find out more about them here: https://lnkd.in/eVVv6ZR5   We want to thank Maria Carmen Punzi, Nanoah Struik, and Shadi Nikshomar for inspiring and striving to make a change #gamechangers Deniz Er Wiedhaup Fabienne Walch Mariah MANSVELT BECK Jessie de Boe

Thank you for sharing these eye-opening insights. It's vital that we continue to challenge these stigmas and work towards more inclusive language and practices. Could you share more about the key takeaways from your campaign and how others can contribute to this important conversation?

It's so crazy, isn't it? I explained to a man the other day what having a period costs and he honestly believed that this was all covered by insurance... I don't blame him, but no — it's just really expensive to not bleed all over the place once a month #endperiodpoverty
