People think about healthcare in the wrong way. Good healthcare is not a right, it’s a privilege. For example, I saw a patient this week that had low testosterone with all the symptoms. I wrote him a prescription for testosterone to self inject. He calls back to the office wanting a PA (Prior Approval) from the pharmacy. What I told him was to just pay cash for it. It’s going to be cheaper than running it through his insurance . Plus, your insurance is not going to approve this. It shouldn’t approve it! Your insurance shouldn’t pay for your testosterone. Your insurance is for disaster. Not low hormones. Quit thinking of your insurance like it should pay for everything. It’s for disaster, surgeries, cancer, and hospitalizations. It shouldn’t be for routine care unless you’re underprivileged, and our system is set up for that already. People need to start thinking about healthcare in a different way.

Between 2005 and 2022, rural hospitals have closed in Texas than any other state, leaving communities without access to care. Why?
