The newest National Basketball Association (NBA) arena is going to feature sensors in the seats that will track how loud fans are cheering during the game But that’s not even the craziest part ⬇️ Los Angeles Clipper's owner, Steve Ballmer, is self-funding the $2 billion Intuit Dome which is set to be complete next season. Its most notable feature will be a section of seating called 'The Wall' which will feature 51 rows of uninterrupted seating behind one of the baskets. But sitting here comes with some unique stipulations... For starters, you can buy tickets to 'The Wall' through three different packages: ∙ Full Season ($169/mo) ∙ Half Season ($99/mo) ∙ Single-game (prices vary) But these tickets are only purchasable under specific conditions. Fans must receive a verified 'Chuckmark' (Chuck the Condor is the Clipper's mascot), which they can do by completing three of the five following actions: 1. Subscribe to the team's newsletter 2. Follow the team on Instagram 3. Subscribe to the team's streaming service OR have attended a game in the past three years 4. Know the mascot's birthday 5. Upload a photo of yourself wearing team gear And if you decide to ever sell your tickets to 'The Wall', the purchaser must also fulfill all of these conditions or you risk losing your tickets. But owner, Steve Ballmer, is taking things even further: ∙ If you attend five games ∙ Show up early to each game ∙ You cheer loud enough (measured through the sensors in your seats) You can claim rewards like, free food, at the arena. Fans are also not allowed to wear opposing team gear while sitting in 'The Wall' or they risk losing their tickets. The team’s goal is to create an environment that rivals European soccer stadiums, but it’s still unclear how fans in a crowded L.A. entertainment market are going to respond. Hey there, sports fans! It's nearly time for the biggest event in the a̶d̶v̶e̶r̶t̶i̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ sporting industry - The Super Bowl! While out in Nashville last year, the TREC team and I got to experience a real life American football game, over at the nearby Nissan stadium. Between the multitude of breaks in play, and the seemingly excessive amount of gear (why do they need so much clobber, surely a gumshield will suffice??!), I can't say I'm a huuuge fan. But with teasers coming out for just the ads, and all the media buzz around certain players, there's something that'll get everyone's attention come Sunday evening: 🏈 Will anyone beat Ri Ri's $5.6 million, 3 second product placement? 🏈 Will Travis get down on one knee if the Chiefs win? 🏈 And will we see Victoria Beckham finally "be honest"? I probably won't stay up to catch these moments live, but my Monday morning scroll is bound to be interesting. Forgot the match outcome, I'm hyped to see which brands will dominate the meme game on their socials, as well as who'll be the first to post about it on LinkedIn. Caitlin Clark and the Larry Bird / Magic Johnson Parallels With all the Caitlin Clark noise around her signature shoe deal with Nike (high), her starting WNBA pay (low) and how it compares to both women of color as well as NBA counterparts, I could not help but think of the parallels to the NBA 40 years ago. Did you know the NBA use to be on tape delay and you could not watch a live game? That was not that long ago. Larry and Magic brought enough demand from customers that the NBA was able to work a tv deal that essentially changed the future of the league. This is what Caitlin Clark has and will do. Ticket sales going through the roof for her games (home and away), shoe/jersey sales and more eyeballs watching the WNBA than ever before. So where do women of color fit in this changing landscape given 70% of the league is not white? The next wave coming in (example Michael Jordan following Larry/Magic). This may be JuJu from USC or a teenager getting ready to break through. Change is coming and Caitlin Clark is only the beginning.

Curious about the licensing implications surrounding these jackets. Current licensees have to be alarmed considering the NFL's licensing prowess.
