Partnerships that Build the Future: Sustainability and Innovation in Construction We enthusiastically welcomed to our premises the protagonists of a partnership that promises to revolutionize civil construction. Prof. João Castro Gomes, coordinator of C-Made and CSTO2NE, Prof. Clemente Pinto, head of the “IPR_Stone” project, both from UBI, as well as Engineers António Araújo, Jaime Polónia and João Silva, from Ocean Blossom (Tecnibuild Group) were present. This meeting symbolized the start of the CATS Project - Concrete Advances Towards Sustainability with Carbon Technology, an initiative led by RAF, Ocean Blossom and UBI. The project's mission is to develop innovative concretes which, through accelerated carbonation, absorb CO2 from the atmosphere during their useful life. This breakthrough not only drastically reduces greenhouse gas emissions, but also redefines sustainability standards in the construction industry, significantly reducing its ecological footprint. In addition, another innovative project is about to begin: IPR-STONE, which uses stone in small blocks with prestressing, offering an ingenious solution for the construction of large spans. These projects reflect the power of collaboration between academia and industry, bringing together scientific knowledge and practical experience to face the challenges of the future.
