This is the most effective way to get rid of recruiters who don’t know how to do their job. As professionals, we all receive dozens of recruiting messages a month, and they fail miserably with zero personalization beyond our first name and the company we work for, at best. If you are a recruiter, especially if you are recruiting for accounting, pretend like you know what we have been doing and what our specialties are. Don’t try to recruit for a senior assurance associate position if the current position is senior tax manager. Worst of all, don’t try to recruit someone already working at the firm you are recruiting for. A great recruiter has little to no competition if they do their job with care and some attention to detail. #recruting #Accounting #Personal

Two great Questions for Senior Accountant applicants Looking for a rockstar Senior Accountant? Two key questions can help you assess problem-solving, adaptability, and dedication beyond the resume. 1. Describe your most complex journal entry. This goes beyond technical knowledge. Dive into their ability to handle diverse situations, navigate intricate systems, and adapt to different business entities. Plus, understand how often they encounter such challenges, revealing their comfort with complexity. 2. Break down your weekly workload and its transformation during month-end close. Resumes often lack the "how" behind listed duties. This question unlocks their time management skills and reveals how they prioritize tasks. During month-end, expect their focus to shift towards accuracy and analysis, so understanding their approach paints a clearer picture. Be careful not to only look for people who spend high amounts of time in the areas you require now, they are probably looking for growth/change. You might instead focus on those who overcome challenges and want to learn- who happen to have the skills you need now for a smooth on-boarding.
