How will this affect our #Safety when flying? Removing every member of the Aviation Security Committee benefits whom? The aviation security committee, which was mandated by Congress after the 1988 PanAm 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland, will technically continue to exist but it won’t have any members to carry out the work of examining safety issues at airlines and airports. Before Tuesday, the group included representatives of all the key groups in the industry — including the airlines and major unions — as well as members of a group associated with the victims of the PanAm 103 bombing. The vast majority of the group’s recommendations were adopted over the years. -AP https://lnkd.in/gKu4dkvv

𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮'𝘀 𝗜𝗿𝗮𝗾𝗶 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗔 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 Air Canada has been fined $250,000 by the US Department of Transportation for operating flights over restricted Iraqi airspace. This incident underscores the critical importance of adhering to airspace regulations and the potential repercussions of non-compliance. The airline's flights between Dubai and Toronto unintentionally entered the prohibited zone, raising concerns about passenger safety and the need for heightened vigilance in navigating complex security environments. This situation serves as a valuable reminder for all airlines to prioritize safety protocols, ensure thorough flight planning, and maintain strict adherence to international aviation regulations. #AirCanada #IraqiAirspace #AviationSafety #FAA #DOT #Travel #RegulatoryCompliance #RiskManagement #AviationIndustry #WentWorld https://lnkd.in/eNkYNnhg

ICAO Annex 17 Chapter 4.4 clearly outlines the measures for the screening of passengers and their cabin baggage. This is why every passenger must go through a security screening process to detect any prohibited items. At the airport, everyone other than security officers is focused on facilitating the passengers. Airport Management and Aviation Security Managers have developed optimal screening procedures that minimize inconvenience to passengers. However, there are many everyday items that can be used for concealment, posing a security threat. Below car key 👇 is the example of it. Security officers must stay vigilant about these potential threats to ensure the safety and security of our skies. You never know when a black sheep might appear disguised as a passenger. Stay focused on your assigned tasks with a #firm yet #courteous approach. These procedures are in place to ensure that airports and air travel remain 100% risk-free. 30-40 Flights Targeted in the Highest Number of Threats in a Day: Are Indian Skies Truly Safe? The Aviation Security Chief assures us that Indian skies are absolutely safe, but the growing number of threats—30-40 flights in a single day—raises critical questions about ground security. While air safety remains paramount, ground security forms the foundation of any effective aviation safety system. This includes the thorough screening of passengers, baggage, cargo, and employees. Are our ground operations fortified enough to support this assurance of safety in the skies? Security lapses on the ground can jeopardize not just one flight but the entire aviation ecosystem. Strengthening ground security is just as vital as air surveillance to ensure the safety of every flight. Continuous training, stringent checks, and collaboration between aviation authorities are necessary to eliminate any gaps. Indian skies may be safe, but we must ensure that ground operations are equally impenetrable. #AviationSecurity #GroundSafety #AirlineSafety #SecurityConcerns #AviationIndustry

Today is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This year's global campaign focuses on the most vulnerable: children affected by trafficking. Children represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims worldwide, with girls being disproportionately affected. ICAO is dedicated to enhancing global aviation security measures and promoting awareness among aviation professionals to identify and report suspected trafficking activities. This day serves as a reminder for our sector to remain vigilant and proactive in the fight against trafficking. Together, we can strengthen our collective efforts to ensure that the skies are safe and #EndHumanTrafficking. ✈️ With many of the victims being transported by air, training on identifying and responding to trafficking in persons becomes one of the best assets in the global fight against this issue. We invite all aviation professionals to read and raise awareness of ICAO's guidance materials for cabin crew training, which can be used by everyone to identify potential victims and prevent these crimes: https://lnkd.in/ehUdaJST

🚨⚠️ Airspace Warning for Haiti (MTEG/Port-au-Prince FIR) ⚠️🚨 Increased Risk to Aviation Due to Gang Activity Canada has issued a new airspace warning for Haiti, advising all aircraft operators to conduct a thorough risk assessment before entering the MTEG/Port-au-Prince Flight Information Region (FIR). This warning comes after a UN helicopter was fired upon by gang members near Port-au-Prince on October 25th. Key Points: Gang violence poses a significant threat to aviation. A UN helicopter was recently targeted. Some carriers have already cancelled flights to Port-au-Prince. The US FAA also advises confirming airport security status with ATC before operating in Haiti. Recommendations: Review the Canadian NOTAM H5210/24 for detailed information. Consider alternative travel arrangements if possible.
