AAM’s Young Professionals Associate Resource Group (YPARG) recently partnered with AAM’s Global Security team to tour the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) at our Detroit Business Office (DBO) in Michigan, where they learned about the GSOC’s functions and operations. Members explored how the team ensures the safety and security of AAM Associates worldwide, gaining valuable knowledge on how Associates can stay safe during work or personal travel.

The best part of the job is celebrating victories with our customers, especially when we've laid out a five-year plan and watched it grow and evolve into something special. Taking the time to reflect, celebrate, and build upon the foundation we've created as partners is mutually rewarding. As an integrator, this celebration has two facets. Firstly, as the face-to-face representative of the company with the customer, I get to directly enjoy the celebration. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the teamwork and support staff who contribute to these successes. Their efforts often go overlooked, and I’m committed to ensuring they receive the recognition they deserve. Cheers to our team at Chubb Fire & Security Canada. The second aspect of this celebration is one that Jarrod Budd often emphasizes. As Fire and Security professionals, we make a significant difference; we protect people and assets. Never forget that our journeys and careers, while often underappreciated, place us on the front lines of life safety and risk management. Let's take pride in the critical roles we play.

AWARENESS IS: Response-Ability I just made myself comfortable in my seat and waited for the other passengers to board before the plane could take off. Suddenly the crew had to deal with an unusual situation. Believe it or not, there was a passenger on board who wasn't supposed to be here. Obviously alarm bells went off because this shouldn't happen, shouldn't be possible. It was interesting to see how the crew responded. Clearly taking charge, clearly knowing what they were doing. Their communication amongst each other was clear, short but still friendly and respectful. A beautiful example of how solid training pays off. They didn't just solve the situation, they also went the extra mile to double check for safety. Who knows what was 'accidentally' left on the plane... After we took off, the purser came to me. She wanted to check in with me. I witnessed everything first hand and she asked if I needed anything, after giving further context. First she dealt with the acute situation but I now learned she still had capacity to read the space for the additional impact this may have had. She was clearly able to respond and she clearly took responsibility. A beautiful lesson of leadership in action, with a perfect balance between the being and the doing.
