Even after all these years, I still get uber excited when conversations go like this👇 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭: Openly discussing active and proactive recruitment. Disclosing where they foresee gaps in their teams, and where they can see internal movement. 𝐌𝐞: Looking to understand how they plan to approach this, and what their historic challenges have been around talent retention and attraction 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭: Asking for data and intelligence on the current market conditions and what approach I would take, especially surrounding niche skill sets and strategic hires. 𝐌𝐞: Discussed several solutions and approaches highlighting a couple of key historic projects that are similar by nature. Also, talked through areas that IMO where the recruitment industry needs to significantly improve and what I am doing to professionalise service levels. 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭: Asks if I would be interested in attending a leadership meeting on site and delivering a presentation in these key areas to help future proof their recruitment and talent strategy. 𝐌𝐞: Well, I cant actually write what I said as the language was too colourful! But, lets just say I was excited and very humbled to be asked. Excited to be asked to do this, but more excited to speak to a company that is open, transparent, that want to give their time and commitment to their talent strategy, and importantly open to new ideas and solutions to make sure they are the brand of choice. ✨ Reflecting on a Transformative Year ✨ As we approach the end of 2023, I find myself immersed in gratitude for the incredible journey of this past year. In February, I took a leap of faith, transitioning from the world of teaching English to embracing the dynamic realm of SaaS at Factorial. 🚀 The growth, both personally and professionally, has been nothing short of remarkable. Navigating the intricacies of the Saas industry, contributing to innovative solutions for HR professionals, and collaborating with a fantastic team at Factorial (special shout out to Jordan Cass for all the great tips and support these last few months) have all shaped this transformative chapter of my career. 💼🌐 As I look back, each challenge has been a stepping stone, and every success is a testament to the power of change and adaptation. Over the past 8 years at Wolt, I’ve had the privilege of scaling our Data Group from a single person to the team of over 30 that we are today. In that time, I’ve built and led multiple teams and taken on various roles along the way. During this journey, I’ve conducted over 200 first interviews, participated in 49 technical assessments, and been involved in 28 final interviews. Reflecting on these numbers, I realised that one of the most important parts of running and growing an organisation, for me, is ultimately the hiring: finding the right people to shape the future of our field and supporting the existing teams and the rest of the organisation in the best way possible. So hiring is more than just numbers. It’s about identifying individuals who not only have the skills but also align with our culture and vision. At least for me as a recruiter. We've analyzed over $3 Billion in ad spend. That's billion with a B! Wild right? But that growth is all from culture. Getting the right people. Into the right roles. How I built a team of 20+ passionate individuals in just 6 months at my company, Organaise! (and how you can do it too) When I founded Organaise in August 2023, I asked some of the best people I knew for some advice on building a great team. Many of them said that I needed a team that shared my passion, dedication, and hunger for success. Fast forward to today, and I'm proud to say we've grown to a group of over 20 incredible individuals. But building a fantastic team isn't just about hiring people with impressive resumes. You need people who believe in your mission and want to make it happen. Here are a few key strategies that helped me build a team that's ready to take Organaise to the next level: 1. Hire for passion and potential: → We prioritise candidates who are passionate about our mission and have the potential to grow with the company. → Skills can be taught, but passion and dedication are innate. 2. Promote a culture of ownership: → Every team member at Organaise is encouraged to take ownership of their work and make decisions that drive the company forward. → This sense of responsibility leads to higher engagement and better results. 3. Communicate openly and frequently: → We maintain open lines of communication, with daily stand-ups and regular check-ins. → This ensures everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals.
