🌳 The story behind our brand 🌳 At Thomas Park, our brand holds a deep, personal connection to our roots. Our name was inspired by a park in Boston—Thomas Park—a place of pivotal significance to our CEO, EJ Rumpke. It’s where he made the decision to leave his career in accounting and move to Maryland to join forces with our CIO, Alex Kopicki.
So excited to sit down and talk with Tommy Choi
Tommy Choi is the co-founder of Weinberg Choi Residential Team with seventeen years in real estate, the team has sold over 2,000 properties and over 1 billion dollars in sales volume. Weinberg Choi is consistently ranked in the top 10 real estate teams in Chicago, which puts them in the top 1% of the Chicago Association of Realtors' top producers. Tommy is also a well-known speaker on leadership and effective communication.
Tommy and I talked about having a teachable spirit and where he learned that. The importance of surrounding yourself with the people who grow with you in your leadership and life, while honoring yourself.
Tommy shares an entrepreneurial story of watching his mom own and operate a laundromat, the impact that experience had on him growing up, and how some of that helped shape his current business. Lessons from the laundromat, on fear of follow through, and fear of failure. We talked through how to catch the "rebound" to reset our clock to gain more skills that help build more confidence to try again to score. Learning to ask the questions "Who is the author in your mind and the narrative we are speaking to ourselves on failure?" Jenn shares the encouragement of Tommy's story and how that might impact her children.
Tommy explains what it means to be a modern-day real estate professional. How to blend the traditional building client base, with our online digital presence, bring value to our content, and the importance of developing our personal brand. The two are necessary for acceleration and growth. Tommy dials down on branding vs a logo while giving examples we can all relate to! If he were a branded show what would he look like?

The Touchplan Team (Brett Adamczyk; Amanda McKernan; Sam Melisi and Tyler Kelly) knocked it out of the park during the two days they graciously afforded Richard Group for training. It was an amazing experience and the resounding sentiment from the field was “When do we get Touchplan on our project?”
Touchplan has been rolled out on three of our EHRM projects already and is showing significant success with subcontractor coordination and teaming. We believe Touchplan implemented correctly will be a game changer for project teams utilizing 3-6 Week Planning Schedules or Look Ahead Schedules as you can incorporate digital pull planning and tracking.
Buy-in from your Subcontractors is key to a successful well-run project in a team environment. Giving your subs a voice in coordinating the sequence of DFOWs along with controlling their individual crew sizes and days to complete a task allows them to obligate to weekly completion dates while interacting with the other subs during Weekly Coordination Meetings. And, we go as far as to invite the client to join post WCMs to update them in real time of activities and locations required to execute our contractual obligations. This will give the Client/Owner the opportunity to notify end-users, police and staff of the rooms, buildings, parking lots, roadways, etc. that the schedule requires access to and allow for way finding and temp swing space moves to be completed pre-construction.
The partnerships between the Owner, Client, GC and Subs are crucial to maintain a holistically respectful and communicative platform in progressing a successful project. Touchplan helps you achieve that goal, and we look forward to what the future holds as we embark on this endeavor and solidify our collaboration with Touchplan.
The Touchplan team takes on Chicago to visit Richard Group. Day 1 was a success followed by a great dinner!
Richard Group has seen tremendous growth over the last year due to their constant commitment to providing an unparalleled best value experience. We’re excited to see how our partnership will allow them to continue to elevate and standardize their planning for years to come!
Bring on Day 2!
