I am happy to share a late announcement that I have joined Techniplas this Summer as an HR Intern in Corporate Talent Acquisition!
When searching for an internship opportunity, it was important to me to find something that felt like a good fit for my personality, skillset, and goals. Full transparency: I had a difficult recruiting season. Employers I was really excited about weren’t choosing me for interviews, and the employers who did choose me for interviews, I wasn’t feeling excited about. It’s rare for students to talk about these struggles because we never want to appear as being off our A-game.
When University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, School of Labor and Employment Relations Alum Kyra MacKenzie approached me to discuss the potential for an opportunity with Techniplas, she showed a genuine interest in my career goals and individual growth. We connected over our shared passion for building people up and strengthening communities. No other employer had bothered to connect with me on such a personal level.
As students navigating the recruitment process, we get asked to fill out a lot of surveys and feedback forms about employers’ recruitment strategies. They want to know what works and what doesn’t. At the end of the day, it’s really simple: Make intentional, honest connections, and show that you are invested in helping young professionals grow in their field in a way that nurtures their unique skills and strengths. Kickstarting your career is daunting. Knowing that your leadership is invested in you and believes in you is invaluable.
I couldn’t be happier with my decision.
We would like to welcome Mackenzie Schabowski to our team!!
