Yesterday at Arab Health Exhibition, I had the privilege of speaking on Healthcare World panel exploring the evolution of primary care in insurance-led systems. I highlighted how the healthcare journey doesn’t begin at the clinic—it starts at home. By empowering patients with the right tools and insights early on, we can transform primary care into a proactive, patient-centered experience. At Albert Health, we focus on leveraging technology to enable smarter decisions at home, ensuring patients arrive at primary care better informed and prepared. This approach not only enhances outcomes but also redefines the role of primary care in a preventative, value-driven system.

Embracing Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC) in Saudi Arabia As part of Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is leading a transformative shift to Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC), prioritizing patient outcomes over service volume. This transition carries immense potential for improving care delivery but comes with challenges: ·        Defining and measuring patient outcomes. ·        Integrating digital health tools like EHRs and AI. ·        Shifting payment models to reward quality over quantity. Despite these hurdles, VBHC opens the door to patient-centered care, preventive strategies, and a more sustainable healthcare ecosystem. 🔥 Hi there, healthcare policymaker or stakeholder, it’s time for episode 2 of 5 in our #MedTechMatters meets #ElectionFriday series. Today, our advisor on digital health Steven Vandeput, PhD. makes a plea for #patientempowerment as an integral part of innovative care models. 💪 Medical technologies can help empower patients by providing them with more insights into their health, allowing them to shape their care trajectory, supporting communication between patients & healthcare providers... Through this, we could gain millions of extra helping hands in healthcare, hands that will then help steer towards more personalised, tailored cared. ⛔ However, there is a problem: our current care models aren’t built for such a use of medical technologies. They are conceived in a quite binary way, with re-imbursement focused mainly on healing, far less on #qualityoflife. ✅ We urgently need to consider care more as a continuum and develop innovative care models accordingly. When we manage to do so, this will open the door for valuable technologies and other solutions that really elevate patient empowerment.
